Please don't shoot the messenger, but has anyone heard a rumour that he may be off to Swindon? My mate at work is a season ticket holder at STFC and said there are strong rumblings of a move.

Your Swindon lot are little slugs... Little slugs with no personality.

Why so? He's not about to displace Tom Lockyer or Tony Craig and barring injury to them and James Clarke, doesn't look likely to play. I've never understood the dislike for Swindon from many of our (predominantly younger) fans.

If we look at balance then only Craig and Broadbent are left sided central defender. Right side we have; Locks, Clarke, Mayo, Parts. Have I missed anyone?
Not sure letting Tom go makes sense.

Can fully understand the Broadbent position he is at an age that he needs to play regularly not sit on the bench like Billy Clark. Good luck to him at Swindon.

I've never understood the dislike for Swindon from many of our (predominantly younger) fans. I wouldn't say I disliked them, only when we play them. When we're not playing them they're rarely thought of by me... Well until the latest local consortium takeover/going bust thing that happens every 4 years. Swindon like Oxford, Plymouth and numerous other clubs cling onto odd derbies and rivalries in a world of football based around narrative. I think most of our supporters just look at them with pity.

Your Swindon lot are little slugs... Little slugs with no personality. Leave the little gastropods alone... They have 27,000 teeth don't you know... Which is 26,999 more than your average Swindon fan

Good luck to him. Shame it's to Swindle. Sounds like GC didn't want him to go...

Very sad - a really bright prospect and a decision which appears to have been made due to our lack of money - especially as it appears it does not pave the way for an arrival

Not sure why you think it has to do with money. Looking at comments looks like he wanted the move. Needs game time. Would be oncern if Craig injured.

I've never understood the dislike for Swindon from many of our (predominantly younger) fans. I was being facetious. Good luck to him - it would make sense. He's had a very interesting pathway into the game and I've always thought he looked a decent player (albeit one who had to play alongside the right partner to be effective) but probably needs games under his belt at a lower level at this stage.
Not going to apologise for disliking Swindon though - the worst experiences I've ever had as an away fan at football have all come at Swindon and I used to have to commute there 5 times a week for 4 years. Not a fan of the place at all.

There was no mention of a fee on the main site, but hopefully we have a sell on clause. Presumably on a decent wage having left the army to join us, and in the last year of his contract?

When we lost to pompey earlier in season they boasted they knew they would brush us aside because our team lacks height and muscle. You do need it. Our squads lacking it. And the best example of it we have in the squad we’ve just got rid of.
At least it was the forward thinking decision though, with Craig only 27 and Broadbent about a hundred and five.
I’m sorry gasheads, but our dreams, our passion, our lives are in the hands of idiots.
Anyone who posts here “I support it, great move for Tom, getting some first team football” can we question how competitive you are, how greedy you are to see our club build some success?
Hammers all over their forum saying “I support great move for Marko, he’ll get to earn lots more money” Liverpool fans “I support Mo’s move to Barca, at least he can pick up some proper silverwear in his career.”
I’m not reacting well to this news, am I?

Well I guess most of us are assuming that this is part of arranging our finances so we can strengthen the squad.
Personally I think it's a reasonable move. Craig and Lockyer are first choice starting centre backs. Clarke is next in line and Partington has also played there in the past. Not sure a 5th Centre back option who can't play in any other position is the best bet for us in terms of resources and it's certainly not very good for him at this stage in his career. I imagine he probably jumped at this chance.
