Quick update to say I met with Steve Hamer and Ken Masters on Saturday and it went OK. I've got about an hour and a half of audio to cut down. Some of it is unusable due to quality.
I'll release it as soon as I can. Working away this week so it won't be until next week I would imagine.

Surely that's an abuse of the Human Rights Act? I await the audio. Thanks Tommy.

My next Nostradamus moment is that Comedy Ken will try to drag you into the SC structure and get you to do the work of improving communication / PR yourself. Then he'll tell you that he's Coming 'Ome.

www.change.org/p/wael-al-qadi-open-letter-to-the-board-of-bristol-rovers-football-club/u/23860806Looks like this has just ticked over 1000 signatures. Huge thanks to everyone who has signed and remember its not too late to add your signature if you haven't already. Me and Steve have arranged to meet before the Wycombe home game. I'll be taking notes and will feedback on the outcomes (if any). I'm aiming to impress on Steve the importance of the fans knowing what the boards long term plan is and how we can open up lines of communication going forward. If there are any burning questions you think I should ask, feel free to add to this thread. Cheers Tom Ask Steve if the Port Vale cup tie could be a kid a quid game and we could bring in those extra fans as we are now so close very to Wemberee ! You want to purchase youngsters for £1 each?

Go on, at least pretend to be offended. Seriously though, nice to see last night priced to make the event affordable. How many times have people complained about the cost of taking youngsters to a game, £7 adults, £1 children. Cheap evening's entertainment. Well done Rovers.

Did it leave you hopeful or still doubtful ? Doubtful unfortunately I thought as much. The guy I go with has not missed a home match in over 35 years and even he has told me that he doesn’t know if he will go to the next one. It’s just getting to be depressing in watching us right now.

Hi Gasheads, I was invited in to chat to Steve and Ken about the petition and below is the audio from that chat. This was before the Wycombe game and I can only apologise for the delay in releasing this. Life has gotten in the way. Heads up this has been edited as some of the recording was of too poor a quality to use unfortunately. The below link is for the audio: gas-cast.co.uk/blog/2019/02/06/tom-metcalfe-chats-to-steve-hamer-and-ken-masters/Since this chat Steve has tasked the head of media with arranging regular i.e bi monthly fans forums. Hopefully this will go someway to opening the lines of communication between the board and us fans. Thanks to all that have signed and shares. I've appreciated all the support this petition has received. Cheers and UTG Tom

Well done Tommy, you did well to stay patient and not press them more, you gave them enough rope to allow them to make it clear they have no plan whatsoever. Or if they do, Hamer doesn't seem to know what it is.
Masters is painful, what's the matter with the bloke? Did anyone ask for a full list of attendances for the last 50 years, for his family history of attending Rovers' games or for him to start bleating on about the community dept? Just Googling 'Passive Aggressive'....
Also, he doesn't know what % shares the Share Scheme represent or how the new owners have affected the possibility of the Share Scheme realising it's objectives of achieving 28% share ownership. Comedy Ken, alive and kicking.
Hamer saying that they had 2 hours between finding out that UWE wasn't happening and the news being leaked, that doesn't sit with one of the reasons given, namely that the final decision was made due to UWE not responding, if that were the case there was time to prepare how they would handle communicating the news.
There you go Vaughan, exactly as you've been told, if you go back with a proper foundation and proper understanding of what you are putting forward they will listen to your crowd funding proposal.

Hamer talks a lot while saying nothing, the little info he does give is often contradictory to previous statements. I think the term is bulls**tter. Did you manage to keep a straight face while he insisted the training ground wasn't dormant it was just nothing was happening? The Ken Masters bits made me want to me eat my own face. No idea what he is on but just say no kids.

The Ken Masters bits made me want to me eat my own face. No idea what he is on but just say no kids. I don't know Ken at all - though of course I have heard of (and seen first-hand) some of his exploits. But in fairness he is clearly super-passionate about the club and he obviously struggles to hold that in when given the chance to talk about Bristol Rovers. Whether he's the right person for the SC job is clearly debatable but I have to say that I loved his enthusiasm. I don't think we should knock people for that.

Whether he's the right person for the SC job is clearly debatable but I have to say that I loved his enthusiasm. I don't think we should knock people for that. I take your point but he was there as a fans rep - after x years on the board he doesn't know the figures with long meandering tangents that go nowhere and add nothing. BTW this is part of the club statement from December: "Many months of effort, and not inconsiderable cost, have been put into this possibility of a new stadium and training ground development..." Hamer directly contradicted this and basically told Tom he was mistaken when he wasn't. This isn't some small obscure detail. Was the original statement untrue or was it ridiculously badly worded to the point of being completely misleading? Highly suspicious as to whether this wasn't just made up to be honest. There are numerous other examples in here, especially regarding UWE. Things are always shifting, slightly, or completely different explanations, many contradictory to each other. Doesn't go very far towards building the trust and open dialogue which was the purpose of this.

Only implies both at same place if you read it like that. Can also be read as separate developments.

I totally agree that you shouldn't knock people for being passionate about the club and he obviously does a lot of good work for the Community Trust. However, what was the point of his interjections in this conversation? Tommy was trying to discuss relatively important points and was constantly railroaded down memory lane with no tangible benefit. Kudos to him for his Zen like patience to deal with that. In regards Hamer and his answers there was a lot of waffle as usual and as Pessimist said he contradicted himself. He kept coming up with answers when he didn't necessarily know them (...near neighbours had a problem with a supermarket that's why they didn't build Ashton something?) - if you don't know, say you don't know. I found both of them to be quite patronising to be fair after a number of "answers" and I suspect it is because you are younger than them and they thought any old waffle would placate you. Nice to know a CEO just deals with the price of beer and Health and Safety at a stadium though! If you have an open dialogue of sorts, can I suggest you ask for the bi-monthly fora to be live streamed on social media as we live in the 21st Century now? Plenty of people too lazy to go (me included!) but would probably watch. Well done anyway Tommy, you did as well as you could in that situation.
