"Many months of effort, and not inconsiderable cost, have been put into this possibility of a new stadium and training ground development.. Only implies both at same place if you read it like that. Can also be read as separate developments. Not having that. "THIS possibility of a new stadium and training ground development" There is no other way a reasonable person could read that in my view.

No need for fighting amongst ourselves. We've learned nothing; Masters should be left to whip up support before a game in the Family Stand, Hamer has no idea what day of the week it is. Well done Tommy. The most important thing to come out of it for me is that Vaughan is welcome to go back when he's properly organised with his crowd funding, that part is exciting, I'm sure he won't let us down, those millions could be the key to getting a new stadium built.

listening now. Hearing Ken Masters is a bit of an eye-opener

Hamer admitting to looking 'incompetent, inept, hopelessly out of touch' when the stadium news broke
leaker let go by the club

Hamer claiming that BRFC can't influence what happens within DS, although they can make recommendations (which seems a contradiction to me)
I'm finding his argument a bit disingenuous tbh

'92% owned by one individual, or one family', 'one person effectively owns it' that's 'very different to having multiple shareholders with different opinions'
difference between football matters and 'what is essentially a private matter'. 'There is football communication and a private company buying/selling/negotiating their own interests'
'it's people's failure to understand how we operate as a club'
using his analogy, he's pretending that the left hand of the one person cannot be fully open with the right hand. Tortuous and both stretching and mis-representing the truth IMO - we do understand, we just think that it's disingenuous

A discussion rather than a fight, the caps were for emphasis rather than anything else, but that may have come across wrong so apologies. No point in arguing over something that was a figment of someone's imagination.

'training ground has always been a standalone project' ie not at the same site as the recent alternative stadium site. 'Colony owned by Dwayne Colony, an offshore company'
Hamer sounding patronising when he calls Tommy 'Tommy'. Which he doesn't usually - it sounds like a defence mechanism
'we were quite advance in terms of planning.....it's all there, it has some extant planning'. Doesn't say why it has been put on hold, but implies that there is a reason

'the family have the right to say 'give us a breather for a while''
what?

announcement of failure of the recent site initiative was discussed at a Board meeting before the Fleetwood game. Announced after the game as a result of that, not 'snuck out after the result'
but, if it's the private business of another company, why was it discussed at the board meeting and announced by football club directors?
Hamer's argument doesn't stand up at all IMO

'The family are very pleasant, engaging people, you can't fault them.....when doing acquisition there were things out there which but for their intervention things could have gone seriously wrong ('the doomsday book')....family feel very bruised when criticised. We try to shield them from that....they have been fantastically supportive....appreciate by the majority, even Mother Theresa had her critics.....you're not able to facilitate what they do publically....it's not ventilated'
my take; - a hyperbolic public suck-up to his employers, apparently having abandoned critical faculties (which rather undermines his argument) - he can tell us how great they are, but not any details which support his argument. We just have to believe him

What on earth is wrong with that bloke?

very impressed with Tommy's interviewing - letting them talk, just interjecting the odd question supported by a few well-chosen facts

'pilot at Heathrow always chipping away at the control tower for permission to take off'
I heard that as how they are trying to get permission from the family to develop the training ground. He didn't state what the hold-up is - maybe he doesn't know. But it seems clear that the family haven't given permission for it to take off

Hamer's job to set strategy and manage the affairs of the Board (ie textbook Chair stuff). He used to do some of the MD's job too, assisted by the former FD. MD runs the show day-to-day
was quite an easy question to answer. But good to hear it spelled out, I think
I don't know what a President does in light of that though

I don't know Ken at all - though of course I have heard of (and seen first-hand) some of his exploits. But in fairness he is clearly super-passionate about the club and he obviously struggles to hold that in when given the chance to talk about Bristol Rovers. Whether he's the right person for the SC job is clearly debatable but I have to say that I loved his enthusiasm. I don't think we should knock people for that. enthusiastic Ken you say
Ah yes, what a day that was. I was in the away end that day and got to see Ken in all his glory. I still maintain that he's just living the supporters dream though. I'd have done the same if I was on the pitch at that point in time!

Don't think anyone can doubt his enthusiasm for the club and his community/charity work. Still no idea what he brings to the table as a fans rep, especially so now

Letter to the government:
Every year you tax us more and more and take services away, yet your senior civil servants and mandarins generous salaries and final salary pension schemes are always paid. You also take a vast amount off me for healthcare yet I can’t get a check up - come back when you’re dying tends to be the response, yet I know quite a few consultants and doctors earning close to £400,000 a year which is more than most directors of large profit making businessss, as to get decent service you both take our taxes for a shoddy health service and then force us to pay extra to go private if we don’t want to die on a hospital trolley. Also, there’s never enough to provide education but always billions for wars to protect oil contracts.
I want an itemised bill explaining where my money goes and a value for money investigation into our tax payments otherwise I won’t pay it. However, previous experience teaches us you move in with force and steal property once this happens, with threats of violence.
Much more reasonable than asking the board of a private football club for their business plans, yet you’ll get a “f off” quicker from the government than you will from our board.

Vast amount for healthcare? This is why we need a comedy section on this forum. Sure, A&E may well be crowded, often with people who don't actually really need to be there, but with critical health care our NHS is simply brilliant. Is it perfect? Of course not, but it's the envy of large parts of the world. Never enough for education? Are you one of the people who think that University education should be free?

Of course not, but it's the envy of large parts of the world. Never enough for education? Are you one of the people who think that University education should be free? 😆😆 You need to travel if you think the NHS is the envy of the world. Political NHS worship doesn’t interest me. It’s only good if you’re extremely poor, as a service it’s a shower of crap. In wales, it was a year wait for an MRI scan. In Bristol it was 3 months. That’s unheard of anywhere else, you can get one for about £150 abroad pretty much the same day. University education is never free, neither is the NHS. I’m saying if we have money forcibly removed from our pay, we should expect a better service than we get, and Id rather university was free at delivery for the most intelligent from a variety of backgrounds than the current expensive daycare centre it is for a majority of courses which offer nothing to employers. Other than proper courses at good unis, it’s a racket. A and e is crowded by people who want medical care. If you think it’s the fault of the people paying for the service I reasonably expecting treatment, therein lies the problem with the system. What other business would say “our customers are ruining the company, they expect too much and need to sort themselves out because we can’t cope” Nothing wrong with the model, of course, it’s the taxpayers fault. They need to stay home unless they’re seriously ill, because every false alarm costs us.
