So what happened yesterday? People on here were very dubious about the team selection to say the least so what was the difference? Was it Sincs in the middle lifting everyone’s game, was it tactical formation or were we just more direct? Did Nichols play for his shirt and deserve his start? Or did Coventry just not turn up?

The team rolled their sleeves up and played like a darrell clarke team. Meaning they worked very hard and run themselves into the ground. Reilly,o clarke, sinclair, lines and bennett especially covered miles of ground. That was the big difference for me.

Since played on the right of mid. Typical performance lots of running and block tackles. Both Reilly and Nichols did a lot of pressing.
Why people think Ollie is a defensive midfielder is beyond me. Covered whole pitch , scored, another shot blocked somehow given as goal kick. Would expect first name in read sheet. How to fit in Sercs, Lines, Upson, Sincs, Bennett, Mathews into the other 3 slots is the interesting conundrum.
Have never seen a crowd change opinion on a player. Nichols, despite failings got good applause on leaving pitch. Crowd wanted Payne off after about 5 mins. Nowhere near the player from first home game. Made Gaffers look like a star.

Could it be anything to do with Coventry playing the game & not resorting to the tactics employed by Accrington Stanley & Southend? They just didn't seem very streetwise to me.

They went forwards for a change instead of backwards and sideways. Lines and Clarke got stuck in too with Sinclair in a supporting role. It's about time Nicholls was sidelined for good. That loanee striker has far more about him than Nicholls will ever have, yet he's dropped to the bench after a good game in midweek when he scored. Make him and Reilly first choice strikers.

Thanks and good to hear in many ways. Payne is worrying as he was a promising signing. I dont expect us to win every game from now on but at least we now know we have a team capable of performing and winning matches.

And a mention to Michael Kelly and James Clarke...both look to me like they should be our regular full backs. Kelly reminds me alot of Browner and Clarke never lets us down. Both deserving of their place in the team for me

Yes, I thought that, as well. Their centre-halves didn't emit high-pitched squeals whenever they lost the ball and wanted to claim a foul, unlike those of Southend and others.

Nicholls is crap. One goal in 57 games. Second highest transfer fee in our history. DC certainly bagged a pup
