Dear Mr C Wurly
How can you prove that John Terry, Queen Rania, James Dyson and Dumb B***** Bill are not bona fide signatures on my petition?
If my follow-up checks prove that they are genuine, it will hopefully show that quality matters more than quantity.
Ironically, I have been approached today by the Chairman of a local Tools Station Club with a five-figure offer to purchase the stand, in order to spare our blushes and ensure the future sustainability of the Club. To be fair, he was at Saturday's game in hospitality box and was impressed with the design.
He can provide a pick-up lorry and 10 volunteers to cover any logistics in the transfer. He does not wish for his club to be named in any transaction, given the recent publicity. I will pass on his interest to Tom Gorringe.

The stand will stay in place, the owners will carry on running the football club and the fantasist rebels will carry on with their absurd rebellion.

How old is the first 'temporary' tent stand this year?

This was discussed at the AGM by Hamer following publishing of the accounts. From my recollection it has 2 members of staff (Dubey is one apparently) and is also used to hold meetings although no-one knows if this is strictly Bristol Rovers business or general Al Qadi business. Either way it is on the Rovers accounts so we are funding it and then presumably paying interest on the cost. The justification was that lots of Premier League clubs have an office in London these days, so obviously we should be like them. I find it surprising that so many fans seem to be accepting of this situation as surely for a club losing 2 million per annum the first thing you would do to make a dent in that would be losing an office costing 250k. Beautiful isn't it, adding it to the debt and then awarding themselves interest on the sum. There are flights from Bristol airport to Amman, flight time and itinerary pretty much the same as flying from Heathrow.Wrong.

Forgive me, does anybody have any idea what the Rovers London Office actually does for Rovers?. ....and where it is.....? I think you can find it under DWANE DEVELOPMENTS UK LIMITED. (From beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/11253528). Registered office address: 5 New Street Square, London, United Kingdom, EC4A 3TW. Sort of Fleet Street area. Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese in a great pub, just around the corner. £250k a year. Who is paying for it? Well... I guess we are. Every £4 pint you buy and every £4 sausage roll you buy helps subsidise this utterly obscene waste of money. Who works there exactly? Is it solely for the use of Bristol Rovers FC? Do the Al-Qadi's use it for any other business that is not directly related to BRFC? Answers on a postcard.

Impressive!!! What will Sunderland make of it?If you click on the pic it looks much nicer. That 'thing' is fuc*ing sh*t. Some people are OK with it. Fair enough - it's a free country. I think it's a fuc*ing embarrassment.

Oh well, that disproves all of the itineraries that are published by the flight providers then.

10k for a stand.
250k for an office 120 miles away.
That's the list of priorities in their eyes.
As I have said, this family stand is SYMBOLIC of the owners' attitudes to investment.
They have pulled the plug. How can people not see that when the writing is on the East Terrace?

They have pulled the plug. ........................ ............which brings me to the other reason why I find the new stand embarrassing. Bristol Energy is losing money hand over fist, was set up and further funded by Bristol City Council (i.e. Council Tax payers like me), and no longer supplies B.C.C. because its tariffs are higher than other suppliers!

Hands up all those who are ready to take positive action on a matchday then? I won’t hold my breath...
If you want a petition to really strike home you need a group of similarly like minded individuals and be prepared to put the hard yards in as people make their way to the stadium. Back in 89 a group of us petitioned at Twerton against Thatcher’s plans to bring in ID cards for people to be able to attend football matches, as part of the FSA national campaign. We got over 80% of the attendance that day (both Rovers and City, it was on Derby Day).
That’s the problem with the inter web, it makes people lazy.

Rovers Supporters will not come together on any off the field matters. History underlines this.
Debate perhaps, concerted action no.
I can imagine 50 supporters invading a pitch over a cause, 200 booing them and the rest in the bar.
Even the Supporters Club can not attract new blood. The Fans Director resigned as he felt powerless, but only told us after he resigned.
No-one wants to put their head above the parapet, as it is a thankless task and there's always a crazy fun-loving pseudonym out there prepared to fire bullets. It is a reflection of society.
All you can do is air those grievances in the hope that someone in a position of influence will listen. How you do that is just tactical!! A token challenge, nothing more.
For those clubs who are transparent and then unite behind "a positive outcome", the benefits are massive. See Hearts FC. The new owners, like the last, treat us as idiots.
I do miss the Green Un Letters page. Life was so much simpler when you were writing to The Editor in 1977 arguing that Jimmy Hamilton was no substitute for Bruce Bannister. The Editor never wrote back to ask why I was so worked-up about an armless and cheap replacement, an apology for a professional footballer.
In fact the new Family Stand reminds me of Jimmy Hamilton in so many ways.

I am more confident this evening than ever that our new owners will quickly move on from the Waq Shack episode. I am sure it will be labelled as "embarrassing" when the due diligence is complete. 😉 A special Henbury wink. Willing to divulge more??

Maybe the rumoured new owners (American; Thai; Higgs; Buffalo Bill; Shorty; the man with the Golden Gun; Isle on Man; Jersey) will leave it until he (they) have built a new ground, and then we can send it back to the Badminton Horse Trials
