I didn't think the article was that great actually. Normally David Conn is a must read as one of the few football journalists who is actually prepared to do the donkey work to uncover the incredible dodginess of lower league football club finances. However, there didn't seem to be all that much to this beyond a classic 'club shoots for the stars in somewhat reckless manner, misses and has to live with the consequences'. I feel like that's been a fairly consistent theme of sides that have dropped out the league. Didn't seem like there was all that much of a story there beyond the usual this time.

Agreed. It doesn’t seem to say much more than it’s a club that forgot to produce a decent football team while faffing around with what seemed important in the boardroom. That rings a bell.
Two things interested me, though.
The first was Wycombe (ugh) players chanting that they wanted to be sent to Vegas for winning promotion. Is this a general thing? Or did we set a bit of a precedent two years ago, news of which has spread amongst players? If so, it’s good to think that we’re held as a good club to play for.
Secondly, he says that the loss of the recruitment man is considered significant. Add that to the thought back in the day that much of Ray Graydon’s succes (not later emulated) at Walsall was down to a brilliant recruitment manager, and the comments at Cov that much of their bounce was down to extreme recruitment last summer, and this week’s news here might be more significant than ‘there’s been a back room appointment’.

I always wondered why Ray Graydon was so successful as a Manager at Walsall, but an abject failure at Rovers - now I know!
As for Wycombe, a nothing club full of cheats with few fans, with a stadium in an industrial estate cul-de-sac. Not surprised the players have an overblown sense of entitlement!

And they allow a drum.... Hope we don't allow the moron in at our place next season. Not that fussed who the other 3 teams are who go down next year, as long as one of them isn't us, but would like to see this nasty little club bounced straight back down to the 4th division.
