Sadly, last night’s BRISA’s meeting poor attendance is no surprise to me. I have posted elsewhere that the moment has gone. The Welly meetings can only be viewed as talking shops as there appeared no plans to formalise things into an association, whereas BRISA took an age to do anything visible but has a formal membership and constitution.
Three times as many people attended the Welly meetings over a month ago and were discussing things raised last night. The Welly meetings were inspired by the anger from the relegation, but as last night shows feelings fade and there is an apathy in Rovers’ supporters, plus pre-seasons have started, there is a confident talking-the-talk DC with new signings, holidays have started etc etc.
The movement towards an independent fans association must continue, but has to be considered a long term aspiration and also depends very much on the first handful of results. I think that a hybrid group of the Welly and the fledgling BRISA would have been viable, as the Welly front three had passion and desire and were credible, and BRISA has a structure, but there appears a lack of desire between the ‘leadership(s)’ to merge (mind you, how can you merge an ad hoc group of supporters meeting in a Pub?) Is there a point of a third Welly meeting? Does 20 attending the inaugural BRISA meeting give it standing (I am sure the BoD, who play the long game, know about the turnout); could it have been held before the Coventry game?
Only one person spoke out during the NH's Q&A in February, and there was clearly discontent during the recent EGM and Q&A, but we all trooped out politely at the end of them. I am grateful for the Welly 3 and the BRISA group, and this is an example of the old cliché: if not you then who? moment, but it looks like being a painful birth.

as we know keyboard warriors rule ...putting forward a person to go on BRSC is the best way forward and will be accepted by the Board ..who wont speak to splinter groups

Players play, the management manage and the supporters support.
There is rarely any meaningful crossover.
There clearly isn't going to be a revolution so evolution is the best option. To achieve that you need to work with people and not against them.
I wish everyone luck, admire their willingness to stand up and be counted, but it will be tough going as most of us supporters are happy (or sometimes less than happy) just to support.

The wellie members voted to merge but the leaders decided not to. At least some bothered to goto the brisa meeting which is encouraging.
I feel the timing was off, too late and at the start of the holidays. Lots of people were interested.

Who is not trying to work with who
I wish i had time to spare at the mo to get invopved, but a wedding 6 weeks away and trying to get my house up together eats up plenty of spare time
In general there have been a few meetings and we are in the miidle ofsummer. If and when the football starts will be an indication of whether BRISA and or tbe Wellie group can drum up support from the non internet fans and build numbers
How well we start and if UWE is started though is probably the sort of thing that will dampen any discontent until the next crisis or feck up

The season hasn't even started yet! Surely it'd take a year or so to get good numbers meeting up, and once word of mouth starts working on match days it'll improve.

The close season following relegation from the League was the perfect time to get the organisation up and running. But it took too long. Sadly, the moment, for now, is lost. 20 people turning up to their meeting should tell the organisers something.

much as i support this move i think it all depends on how things flow on the pitch, all gos well then nearly everyone will be happy, if results arnt very good the fans will look for a strong voice to air there frustrations, surely if box1 havent got the message by now we are up s**te creek!!! utg

Perhaps a meeting prior to a match will attract the numbers. Supporters like to talk and watch football, but attending a meeting for a 2 hour period with people that are not well known to each other despite sharing a common association is not always an attractive proposition. I'm sure if we all were asked an opinion on the BoD's pre-match there would be a lot of similar feeling on their incompetency and a need for change, but to now spend time and money gambling to enact change is the hard gamble.
