a thread on the other place if you dare, gaschat.co.uk/thread/11683/1883-sponsors-club?page=1&scrollTo=368903
but some snippets from the thread include
The 1883 Club is being revamped for next year. I have met with Tom (along with all 1883 members) to discuss the changes. The one thing was that the front shirt sponsorship would go to one company and not be raffled in the 1883 draw. I got the impression that the draw would still take place but with different prizes. I was told the main sponsor was due to be finalised before the end of the month.
He also talked about other things that are aiming to be completed over the summer, including electronic turnstiles.
He said that the club is missing revenue as there are more people getting in free than one might expect. Electronic ticketing means that they can confront someone and request evidence that they have paid.
The fact that Tom emailed me personally, back in December, to arrange the meeting, the FIRST time (after doing 1883 for 4 years) that anyone from the club had emailed me not asking for money is a real indication of his intent.

If that is true and comes to fruition, what a coup to recruit a one off sponsor that brings in as much if not more revenue as 1883 (something around £100k).
This Tom and his team must be working hard to bring that sort of money in.
And well done with engaging with 1883.
Slowly, we appear to be moving in a more professional direction.....certainly in commercial department.

I've used electronic turnstiles many times when watching football in Cyprus. They are a good idea, especially for season tickets where a credit card size plastic card with a barcode provided quicker entry into the ground than fumbling through a book of paper tickets. However to avoid queues building up for those who pay on the day, you need separate cash and credit card sales points for those paying on the day. Run properly it will work better than the current system (despite having to queue twice), but if you try to introduce it without changing the current entrances it will not work. It is much more secure system, and less susceptible to petty pilfering or 'unofficial' entry.

AJB maybe? Sponsors come and go so very important to try and keep the 1883 club going.Might be a job though with the top 2 prizes going,if this sponsorship deal happens.

Electronic turnstiles will not always save money as I have seen stadiums where it is used having 20,30 40 and 50 year olds going in on juvenile tickets. At the end of the day you may save on Turnstile staff but must ensure that there are so9me "staff" watching the turnstiles and stopping this happening.

Those same folk might be getting in for free though atm, as alluded to earlier, (although there may be a separate thread connected to this!) and also there was a fraud situation last season, so I see this as a step in the right direction..

I can't knock the 1883 Sponsorship scheme, it was a great idea: ensured a good return for shirt sponsorship; affiliated local (and national) companies with the club, and (through the hospitality package) got people to games that might never have come before, which in turn could create new supporters. However, perhaps it is time for a change. Let's look at some figures ... Going by the advert in the match-day programme, there are 86 companies in the 1883 scheme this season. Each entry in the draw costs £1,250 (+VAT) = £107,500 income. This figure could be higher, as there is the possibility some firms entered 2 or 3 times.www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/2017/march/less-than-four-weeks-to-enter-our-1883-draw/For that outlay, one of the biggest incentives is a table of 10 in hospitality. This year hospitality in the Dribuild costs £60 (+VAT) per adult - a potential saving of £600, meaning the true income per draw entry is near half the £1,250 cost. www.bristolrovers.co.uk/commercial/hospitality/Put it another way, providing we manage to sell the spaces, that's up to £51,600 lost or to be made, in hospitality takings per season. Right now, where we are in the league, where we are at The Mem, with hospitality space at a premium, perhaps it is time to change. Should the situation change (either moving to a bigger stadium - ahem! - or the team's fortunes change for the worse) then the draw may be something to look at again in the future.

And about time too. I won’t pretend I haven’t had a couple of tickets given me but there are a fairly large amount who get either free tickets from the club, eg the armed forces lads, who then mostly sell them on at around half price and then others who just give them away. I thought that the use of an ST without he accompanying book, had been stopped but I’ve seen many use them and yes we do have a good amount who get in free via various methods. We had a situation at the Shrewsbury game where we turned up at 15:09. Turnstykes were closed but the main gage was open and the steward was taking money. I’m not accusing said steward but it’s not great is it

I think the 1883 raffle has been a really great way of engaging with fans whilst giving local businesses or even individuals, the chance to sponsor the club. I think it’s been a great success and has given us sponsorship, local sponsorship, from within the fanbase. It has also brought people together. It woukd seem that one issue here is the so called free hospitality places to those who enter, off the top of my head I think it was 4 x hospitality spots for each group who entered so hardly going to make us lots. I know other clubs have directly copied the idea. I’m no expert anyway so I hope this works out as it kind of saddens me that it’s to be stopped. Here’s hoping it benefits the club and helps us in money made available to the manager. I always thought very highly of the draw. Are they not called the presidents club or am I mistaking things again

I have never bid for Rovers tickets this way (yes it is open to reserves / certain group of veterans), I ask that if anybody knows the names of anybody that has received these tickets and is selling them to PM me and I promise you I will let the relevant people know, as that is an abuse to the generosity of the club and the charity. I have used tickets for troops and when I do have been asked to prove who I am.

It build resentment in the part of the West stand, where I go. It’s one thing doing it but then to boast about it is another.

Are they not called the presidents club or am I mistaking things again I'm not sure it's stopped. Just front of shirt is not up for grabs because apparently we've a major sponsor lined up to fill that role. There are still advertising in programme and around the stadium etc.. I believe it served a purpose, and much respect has to be paid to local businesses (especially during TRASH era), but things move on and if the new sponsors bring in as much revenue, it's the right way forward.

New sponsor Jordanian investment bank? ...and then better still no logo, or maybe just on top of sleeve.

Are they not called the presidents club or am I mistaking things again It's 10 x hospitality spots KP. Have a look at my previous post, which has some links and figures. Our sentiments are pretty much exact! The Presidents Club scheme is different. Easily confused with similar names! You've got two things: 1/ The BRFC 1883 Sponsors Club Draw, for shirt sponsorship. 2/ The Presidents Club 1883 Draw, which is open to anyone, and costs £5 per month, with a monthly draw: www.bristolroverspresidents1883club.co.uk/rules/
