I was texting an 82er mate today, mainly to tell him that £1m Agard was a damp squib (though admittedly getting a million for him was quite a feat for 82, especially when my mate described him as having been a 'panic buy' by 82)
Anyway, I also asked if Snakey is still a good all-round player who only scores in 'soft games' for them. He said he's a good squad player, who seems to be more impressive when he comes on as a sub
At what, 27?, maybe he's found his peak level. Which to be fair is probably a lot higher than was predicted 5 years ago

What a manager tony waddington was! Brought stanley matthews back to the club at 46 years old and nearly doubled there crowds. Built a terrific team in the 70"s with players like dennis smith, george eastham, terry conroy, alan hudson and john ritchie. Won the only trophy in the clubs history in i think 1972. Remember seeing them play us off the park in the 1st half of the league cup q-f and being 4-0 up at half time. I was about 13 and wondered what the hell was going on? We restored some pride in the 2nd half,i think we lost 4-2 in the end.Geoff Hurst and Gordon Banks as well. Yes Rovers lost 4-2 which for a 3rd division team up against one of the top teams in the country wasn't too bad. That was the biggest crowd that I ever was in at Eastville,I don't know how many were there, the best part of 40,000 I reckon...no doubt the official crowd was 17,500 or something ridiculous. Stoke were a top side until the mid 70s when they had to sell their best players,I remember them being top of the league in 75 and coming to Eastville for a Friday night mid-season friendly, the crowd was over 5000 ! it was the only chance to see the top players then before Sky TV.
I was absolutely gutted that night as my dad deemed it too dangerous to take me but the rest of the boys went and I was left at home, with mum. As I remember it, the radio presenter said parts of the crows had spilled onto the pitch but the game carried on. Twice that happened to me, once V Man U and the Stoke game. I never forgave dad for that as some of the other kids told stories of the game, next day at school

We've barely missed him at all, in my opinion. Come off it,the first few games after he left Rovers couldn't score at all ,even though the Chairman had said that he wouldn't be missed as the team had other players who could score. In my opinion Rovers would have got to the play offs last season if Taylor had stayed.
And that’s precisely the reason SL didn’t just sanction it, he ordered it. Imagine how bad it would make him and that club look if we had attained championship football without spending the many many millions he has shelled out. I’ve personally never hated them but that purchase showed them up in a very bad light & the welcome to Bristol campaign was just something that should embarrass them, however I feel they have no sense of shame

Apparently the s**t measure the length of grass at every away match they play. I've also heard the snake measures the thickness of his wallet before every away match, it gives him something to do bless him !
