I see Taylor isn't even on a 7 man subs bench against the likes of Burton f**kin Albion who are they. He must have faked another injury again bless him.

See Matt Lund came on as Sub for Burton.Did ok for us on loan from Stoke but nothing special. We've had a few loans from Stoke including the then manager's son-Waddington- who came on in his first game as sub and immediatley gave a penalty away.

If we're thinking about the same incident, on Saturday 9 Feb 2008, it was the first time I'd ever seen a penalty given against a player jumping in the wall and protecting himself from being hit in the face. Of course, we benefited this year - at Wigan - from a similar incident. Except we missed the pen! Looking at the Doncaster team that day, Coppinger (who had appeared against us in the Johnstone's Paint Final a year previously) was still in the side. I notice he still lines up for Doncaster this season! Also, the referee who gave the controversial penalty decision (in fact he gave two to Doncaster that day) was the same Graham Laws who officiated at the Johnstone's Paint Final.

What a manager tony waddington was! Brought stanley matthews back to the club at 46 years old and nearly doubled there crowds. Built a terrific team in the 70"s with players like dennis smith, george eastham, terry conroy, alan hudson and john ritchie. Won the only trophy in the clubs history in i think 1972. Remember seeing them play us off the park in the 1st half of the league cup q-f and being 4-0 up at half time. I was about 13 and wondered what the hell was going on? We restored some pride in the 2nd half,i think we lost 4-2 in the end.

Yes Rovers lost 4-2 which for a 3rd division team up against one of the top teams in the country wasn't too bad. That was the biggest crowd that I ever was in at Eastville,I don't know how many were there, the best part of 40,000 I reckon...no doubt the official crowd was 17,500 or something ridiculous. Stoke were a top side until the mid 70s when they had to sell their best players,I remember them being top of the league in 75 and coming to Eastville for a Friday night mid-season friendly, the crowd was over 5000 ! it was the only chance to see the top players then before Sky TV.

If this is you being playful, then save it for Bambi Hitchens on the SC thread. As for Taylor, I have not considered him a candidate for BRFC. I certainly would not bench Harrison or Gaffney right now. I give less thought to BC1982 players.

We've barely missed him at all, in my opinion.

We've barely missed him at all, in my opinion. Come off it,the first few games after he left Rovers couldn't score at all ,even though the Chairman had said that he wouldn't be missed as the team had other players who could score. In my opinion Rovers would have got to the play offs last season if Taylor had stayed.

We're the leading scorers in L1 as it stands. Our form in the second half of last season was better than in the first half. I'll stick with my opinion that Taylor leaving had surprisingly little effect on our fortunes. Incidentally, we haven't drawn a League match since our run of drawing six in a row came to an end in February. Football is odd.

Leading scorers because of 6 against hopeless Northampton, with Taylor there it would have been 10 !
The defence were the problem in the first half of last season, Taylor would have won the games at Gillingham and Peterbough.
Agree that its odd about the draws.
History will judge Taylor as a MASSIVE player for Rovers, without him Rovers would still be playing non league football ! if Rovers ever did build a new stadium there should be a statue of Taylor at the main gates.

I rated Matt Lund Staff. He had a good radar and could play cute one touch football, which worked occassionally, helped by team mates being awake.

I had very much preferred to take the mickey, rather than to engage Kegan/Harry/John/Mike, but our duckcrap seems to have degenerated into a reasoned debate. Do you not just hate it when that happens?
MT left when he was scoring freely but easily in a very creative team. LJ failed to rise to the occasion after this. To a lesser extent thos applies also to EH and RG. Had MT continued to score so for us, then last season should have ended well. This season, our goalscorers are doing just fine; it is defence that lacks. LJ went, and I am glad to have EH and RG at Rovers. So you are all a bit right. MT was good for us, and his leaving affected us last season. This season, I have not given the chap a moment's thought. Not until Kegan/Harry/John/Mike asked again, and not since the last time. Good luck MT. But I do not miss you at all now.
