Oh yeah you aren't impacted by the international break in the lower leagues are you? 8 men had a dream To save our football team Tore their contracts up so we could go on And 30 years on We're still going strooooong We're Bristol City It's where we belong... 👍 So - which pie won? You need a reality check Charlie for it was no dream, it was a nightmare full of threat, vandalism and putting the fear of god into those 8, to make them tear up their contracts. The little ditty is a long Long way from the truth & Geoff Merrick is still furious about the whole shameful episode. Awful behaviour that you * should * be both ashamed & embarrased about. Well they weren't too ashamed and embarrassed to daub a war memorial with graffiti.........seems they never learn.

The Ashton Gate 8 were shabbily treated. They should have listened to the PFA and refused to tear up their contracts. It took football many years to start to get its house in order and prevent clubs "doing an '82" and walking away leaving players with unpaid wages and suppliers with bad debts.

Hold the front page:
Following last weeks [sic] pie tasting event, Bristol Rovers can now announce that our new supplier will be Piglets Pantry.
Piglets Pies were the most popular selection amongst supporters and will be stocked in kiosks for this weekend's game with Oxford United.
Piglet’s has won over 32 awards at the British Pie Awards, including 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for the best pie in Football and are also in the finals for the Football Business Awards later this year.
Piglet's are very proud of our growing family business who employ 20 people and only buy our meat and vegetables from sustainable sources around the UK.
They will be supplying their steak & ale, chicken balti, sweet potato curry (v) pies along with sausage rolls on a matchday.
This weekend Piglets Pies will be bringing some staff to the game, who will be offering free samples to supporters to try the products.
Joanna Hunter, Chief Food Lover at Piglets said “The Team are all very excited to be working with Bristol Rovers Football Club to provide unique and tasty British pies and handmade sausage rolls to the fans, we look forward to meeting everyone on Saturday when we launch our wares”

What about my 'Proper Cornish Pasty'?
When they brought in Peter's Pies, they sold them alongside each other. Not sure if this is the case this time.

Another trick missed in my opinion, only local companies should have been involved to maybe get some new people at the mem, with the winners getting various ticket options for family and friends. Can't see many people travelling all the way from Sussex to watch the gas even if the ticket was free !

Can't see many people travelling all the way from Sussex to watch the gas even if the ticket was free ! Have you signed up for English grammar classes? Two commas, one full stop, one apostrophe and an exclamation mark in only two sentences! Go to the top of the class (or did you forget to disguise yourself with deliberate lack of punctuation?).

Greetings, Gasheads. Brighton fan here.
As someone who has sampled Piglet's Pantry pies at the Amex for the past six years, I can assure you these are superb. The steak is cooked SLOWLY for five hours in Harvey's - a local Sussex ale. The chicken pie is excellent, and the spicy veggie pie is great too. The sausage roll (as per that BBC clip) however is off the scale.
Yes, I do know the people at Piglet's and so am a bit of cheerleader, but I do still suspect you'll be in for a treat. They'll be at the Mem giving out free samples. Suggest you try them, then let us know.
The point about a local supplier is very valid, and it's something we specifically wanted when the Amex opened. However, in the evident absence of one in the Bristol area, I hope you appreciate these offerings. The only downside MIGHT be that the pies are more expensive than you're used to. They're very expensive at the Amex (£4.20) but still sell in their thousands. Really. I dbout that they'll be that steep down there.
Oh, and look after Tom Gorringe for us - a top bloke, very approachable, and open to all kinds of ideas. Well, football-related ones, anyway...
Good luck with your season. Cheers.

Does your company, I mean the company to which you refer, only make southern pies?

Piglet's make anything you want. We've had probably around 15 different pies at the Amex since its opening. 'Southern pies' might need some explaining. It's not a culinary term which has any meaning here. When I say 'here', I mean in England.

I'll only pick you up on the highlighted section. We have some excellent ones thanks; I guess the likes of Clarks and Pieminister weren't included in the taste-testing.

I'm sure there are some excellent ones in that neck of the woods. Pieminster are often beaten by Piglet's in taste tests. They were at Brighton, Chelsea and other football grounds - and the Great British Pie Awards festival.

Mocking a duck on the internet might be of limited advertising worth though. Good night.
