Went along last night as Rovers were beaten 3-1 by a good freekick and two daft penalties. Was impressed with Brandon Scott who was at Cray Wanderers last season, he'd previously been linked with Stoke and was dragged off at half time. Read into that what you will. The team was very raw but we may have some decent players in there. Menayese looks good but has a tendency to let himself get out of position, Ten-Grotenhuis showed there's a decent player in there and I was impressed with Russe. Will be interesting to see how this team progresses through the season.

I haven't seen the first Nine-Grotenhuis, but hopefully this lad is the best one.

It was a good night out – proper non-league. The first pen was a shirt pull, but the second one was, I thought, a coming together running into the box; the Corinthian spirit was not there though and the pens were very well taken with power and positioning rather than being gently played to our keeper (also their players did argue with the ref and throw the ball away, tish tut.) For a totally amateur side the Casuals were more of a unit than Rovers, with obviously more experience. There was the odd performance in our team, but yep they are still raw. The Casuals had a fair support who enjoyed themselves and were vocal at times. I particularly liked the portakabin for their committee members with them all wearing blazers, club tie etc eating cake and drinking tea. No matter how hard I tried to dislike their strip, pink and chocolate halves, it is actually quite good.

I too was their last night and quality wasn't dissimilar to some of the Conference South games I watched last season.
In 2nd half was quite impressed with Rovers No. 3 (Don't know name) as seemed to be trying to organise everyone and certainly vocal.
On the down side their cafe obviously couldn't cope with the number of people wanting chips as they had a cook s fresh batch after 2 or 3 servings!

Rovers have now signed Brandon Scott. Perhaps he should be ''dragged off,'' more often.

There are some pictures of the game on The Grassroots tourist, a good picture of the first goal which was a good strike and Rovers keeper well beaten. I agree with you that the 2nd penalty was harsh, their player seemed to want that to happen, not very Corinthian if so. I thought that Rovers right back played well,a few of the other players looked good at times.
About the strip I thought it looked good too, when I went into their 'Megastore' some bloke had a black bag full of quartered shirts in their colours and was saying that someone had thought it was a good idea for a kit.
Looking at the programme although Rovers played at Corinthians in 1936 (as mentioned in another thread by Harry Buckle) Corinthian Casuals did not become one until 1939 so last night was the first game between the 2 clubs. Just think that with different results a couple of seasons ago we could be looking forward to some great away days watching Rovers in the Bostik league.

Talking of Harry, what happened to him?
We shall remember him.

Looking at t'internet they used quarters in a tour game. Chatting to a chap during the game quarters had been considered, but rejected as a main strip; also he said Brazilians often visit the ground, even during the week as a pilgrimage as the Corinthians in Brazil was inspired by the then English Corinthian FC. Liked the irony of the megastore being a garden shed.

I didn't realise that Guernsey are in the Bostik league Southern division too,now that would be a good away game.
