www.stroudnewsandjournal.co.uk/sport/11354408._/?So that's Lee Hughes and Jon Parkin leading their front line this season who have scored about a million goals between them at a lot higher level than us. But hey they might not have joined FGR for the right reasons so why should we worry. We will show them who the big boys are on 25th August, wont we? Wont we? Well done Higgs & Co you look to have the rest of the division on the run already, cant wait for the humiliation to start.

If they play this season how they have the last few they can spend and sign as many league proven players as they like, they always seem to cock it up. Can't play with 9 strikers.

I was having a similar conversation with someone the other day but about Eastleigh after they signed Midson and COnstable. Just because they have signed veteran strikers with league pedigree guarantees them nothing in the conference. The best unit and team will get promoted, not the best individuals. Luton signed a load of league pros and it did nothing for them. If DC can get our team playing solid football and to fight tooth and nail then we will have a equal chance.
Personally I would rather have any of our strikers than Lee Hughes.

Jon Parkin looks like a good signing, if he is fit (a big unit).

Do you think Parkin will be happy when he finds out he cannot get any meat to eat at the ground. He didnt get that size by being a vegy.

Jon Parkin looks like a good signing, if he is fit (a big unit). I remember he scored a beauty of a volley against us at The Mem last season for Fleetwood. Not really the sort of player I'd like in our team, think it would be too tempting to play hoofball. One thing you have to give DC credit for, is that it looks like we are going to try to keep the ball on the ground this season, with the signings that have been made, and what he has said in pre season.

Absolutely hilarious signing, Forest Green are a joke.
Lee Hughes - Death by Dangerous Driving. Luke Rodgers - Disfigured a girl by throwing a firework at them. David Pipe - Wounding with the intent to cause Grievous Bodily Harm. Jon Parkin - Fat bloke.

I'd have anyone our strikers over them.

All I want is for us to get out of this god forsaken hell hole asap and for that matter the one above it too. I am not at all precious about who plays for us or whether I like them or not as long as they do the business for us. in fact if we had them last season and they had managed to score one more goal than we got to earn us a draw we didn't get then I would have welcomed them in an instant. To tell you the truth though I don't know if I would want these two now, it could go either way in terms of how effective they are but you cannot fault the goal scoring record of either and there has to be a fair chance they will score more than our strikers do. The real point is though that players such as these do not come cheap and FGR, that is a tiny club from Nailsworth, are blowing us out of the water in what they are prepared to pay. How can that ever have happened? I will answer my own question:- Total incompetence by our board, year after year that's how, and in fact it must have taken a special degree of incompetence to achieve what they have managed to achieve with such a well supported club!

What has Jon Parkin signing for FGR got to do with Higgs? LOL Only on here can a player sign for another club and "our" chairman get shot to pieces over it

Who are we going to fail to compete with if this carries on with everybody clapping in blind faith? Yate Town?

A special degree in Incompetence? Now if you could float this to UWE we could be onto a money spinner. Just think, a 3 years BA (Hons) course in Incompetence? Why not team it up with another BRFC core strength, Marketing? Delivered by renowned local experts in Incompetence, and Bluster this course could solve a key skills gap in British industry. Yes, I see it now, hundreds of fresh-faced graduates proudly holding aloft their (Errea-sponsored) degree scrolls in Incompetence/Marketing, majoring in excuse-management, censorship and expectation-lowering. Just think of the revenue-streams at c.£9,000 pa and we could always house the grateful hordes in the redundant 3 sides of the new stadium. I bet old Payola's abacus is whirring away as we speak whilst Kirsty's spell checker is toiling over the press release, allegedly.
