What alot of wan* getting spouted. Bert Tann and Darrell both did/are going great service to our club and acheived much. Comparisons are worthless as different eras.

If Bert Tann was so good why did fans want to send him to a war zone? You never hear anyone wanting to send DC to Syria. Grow up. Its a good point. Send Darrell Clarke To Iraq...

Why are you so sure it is goodbye? Not proven yet and a big risk for any club who are looking to rebuild as not as yet dealt with being given funds to buy players of a higher level. I reckon we will see at least one more season of DC. If a club wants a experienced manager on the management merry-go-around then dc is not the man but any club looking for an up and coming manager with a fantastic record at rovers and salisbury then dc is your man.

Tbf, if any club is looking for an up and coming manager with a fantastic record at Rovers and Salisbury, then DC is pretty much the only man.

Tann never managed in non league and never saw his team embarrassingly lose at home in the FA Cup to two non league clubs Bert Tann never turned around a club in complete disarray and deliver a double promotion. I think he did, continually. True he never did two on the trot but if the rules on promotion now were the same as the 50s then neither would DC. No playoffs and only the top team went up really tough then. After they sold the ground he was always fighting against the odds. No money so they developed the "no buy, no sell" policy in the 50s. And he nearly took us to division 1. ps. Sorry harry just seen your reply. I should have completed reading the thread just posted when I saw GasPanics post.

Pointless comparison. Pressure as todays football demands, was not on Tann. He had all the time in the world DC did not. But my early memories of the sides Tann created were always of an exciting attacking team.

Wouldn't it be refreshing if DC was able to manage Rovers for 18 years (like Tann)?
In response to the original post, there seems no hint from any of Darrell's interviews that he is thinking of leaving - he regularly refers to next season at Rovers - so I hope the OP is wrong.

Goodbye Darrell Clarke, May you ever grow in our hearts, You were the grace that placed itself, When Monky tore defences apart, You called out print that b'stard, and whispered to us in pain, Got pissed in the Queen Vic, and took us up again.
and it seems to me you lived your life, Like a candle in the wind, Never leaving for Elland Road when the Leeds came in, and your footsteps will always fall her, Along Purdown's greenest hills, Your candles burned out long before, Your legend ever will.

Has he left yet? I see no announcement. Another post trying to be sensational, controversial & provocative. I assume due to season petering out.

I think he would like to stay but if he chooses not to I think it will be a clear indication that future investment in the squad and the situation regarding our new ground is not as it should be.Even though most fans think we have had a reasonable season compared with where we were 3 years ago I think we have missed a golden opportunity to push on again this year with our lack of decent investment in the squad in the January transfer window, god knows when we will get this sort of momentum again.

So what we probably need to do is have a really s*** season next year where we just avoid relegation. That should put the other clubs well and truly off the scent - before DC fires us into the Championship stratosphere the following year.
Maybe we can get John Snout on loan from the teds as an assistant for a year. He seems to attract a relegation scrap.

If he chooses not to? Am I missing something here? Can't understand the assumption that there's a boat load of clubs queuing up for DC's services.

But disagree about the pressure on Tann, he probably didn't have all the time in the world despite it being a less media-savvy world then. My grandad gave him some stick from the north enclosure in those days! UTG!

Imagine belittling DC's achievements in saving the club from near oblivion, when you're a home game freeloader.
