I have to say despite all the negative stuff written on various sites about DC's recruitment, I for one am right behind him. He has got some experience, he has got some players that know about the league, he has got some young players and nobody on more than a 2 year contract (Mansell). I would rather wait for the right player and someone who is willing to play for us for the right reasons. We have had 'name' players and where has it got us??? We need to rise from the ashes stronger united and as a team, not just on the pitch but on the terraces, in the board room. This club we love has spent too long spirralling down hill, I can name the minute it went wrong! It was directly after Andy Williams scored that cracker against Southampton. Instead of the great feeling we had after that game we have gone downhill fast. I really think with the addition of 2/3 players we have a team to be competitive. Anyone who thinks we are going to have the league sewn up by Christmas, take a good look at yourself. DC has at least had the B****** to try to sort the mess out, I for one will be happy if our 'unexciting' signings, do the business and once more give us a team to be proud of. UTG.

I think he's doing okay,Rovers are a skint 5th tier club,he's signed a few and we're still about 4 weeks to ko I believe.
It's all about him turning them into an effective team, that is what counts.

We can only truly judge this squad of players and DC'S method of recruitment from the Grimsby game onwards.
Results are all that matters at the end of day.
However, I also must point out that I don't see anything wrong with people questioning the approach we are taking. For too long people were willing to just go along with what a manager, player, board member said. It's fair to say that fans will no longer accept this. Now it is time for them to deliver on the pitch.

I have no idea who we could have signed as 'we' had no idea we were going down and how it would effect the finances which look tight indeed, but Mansell and Monkhouse look like hopefully adding some decent experience to a young group of players

He seems to be going the right way about getting the balance right, The next couple of signings will be crucial I think. I don't think "name" players are the answer for us ,they never seem to work, arguably the most successful time was under Francis with players who were virtually unkowns and going no where , fingers crossed.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, FGR have just signed Jon Parkin.
That club are either going to win the league this year or balls it up completely.

You're right, Gerry Francis Mk I continued the excellent work that Bobby Gould had started, in circumstances that were beyond his control at the time I might add. I still can't really remember where a lot of 'em pitched up from, but there they were . . . and reasonably successful too. It proves to me that you don't necessarily need ''stars'' in the lower divisions, in fact quite the opposite. But to be fair, BRFC has never had any ''stars'' for any period of time. Under Bert Tann it was his famous ''No Buy, No Sell'' policy, and then we seemed to recruit good apprentice professionals, and then sell-on the best of them to the bigger clubs. But the remaining players all had one thing in common, to do their very best for BRFC. The policy of throwing money and long contracts at average players has proved to be flawed. Team spirit, that's what we need, and have needed for quite some time now.

Has he recruited a decent striker yet? Patience is a virtue, so they say CPB. We'll all have to wait and see.

Has he recruited a decent striker yet? Are we in a decent league? Does he have a decent budget? I heard that we nearly completed a deal for Suarez but his 4 month ban meant the deal collapsed.

As someone who was underwhelmed in what he saw from DC at the end of the last season & thought his continued position was just an easy decision by the board I've actually been quietly happy with his recruitment so far.
As to recruiting players he knows & as Gerry Francis has been raised in this subject, just what did Gerry Francis do when he first left us for QPR?

I keep hearing this skint word being banded about, I've seen no evidence of it on the players of a 5th tear team, like I said on the monkhouse thread, I'd have been happy with the six so far recruited if we were still in league two, if we are a skink club then DC carry on!!!

Has he recruited a decent striker yet? Did you go to the Cheltenham game last week? More movement and control on the ball from Taylor than most of our strikers managed to produce during the whole of our relegation season. Sinclair will be a Gas legend - words marked.
