If it stays 0-0 is it penalties again... perhaps thats why he played Mansell... Well it hasn't come to that. Our participation in this joke is now at an end.

What have we come to that we drive a professional to Portsmouth to get changed, go through the charade of a warm up only to sub him after 2 minutes and then drive him back to arrive home some time after midnight, when he has an away game the following Saturday?

The stupid rules of the competition, especially when it was said on Saturday that there was a virus going around the club. Let's be honest do we take keeping our position in the league or silly cup football? The one exception I would make is the FA cup as it is the only cup left with that special appeal. Just hope we beat creepy and Taunton win as well.

Apparently Portsmouth tonight changed the team more than allowed for the third time in a row and have been fined £5K each time; nice little earner for the EFL, at this rate it will be able to move the annual meeting (or junket as one paper described it) from the Algarve, where the 72 clubs plus EFL executives go, to Hong Kong.

There are not many games I have wanted us to lose, but I can put my hand on my heart and say that I am glad we lost this one.

The real victim in all of this is Mike Jay. His super fans trip to Wembley has been cancelled.

Worth reading this for a reasonable discussion (something I never thought I'd say about the Daily Mail) about the cup, but the attendance figures at the end really tell the tale - Middlesborough had their ground less than one percent full, Blackburn not much better for a rare local derby with Oldham. Surely this farce can never be repeated and will surely have killed off any future plans akin the the odious little tw@t Greg Dyke's idea to desecrate the lower divisions with premier league reserve teams as they are in Spain.

Agreed. End the debacle and forget forever any thoughts of B teams playing in the lower leagues. I should like to point out I don't read the DM. Was just sent the link Off topic but this is a good clip and represents my thoughts on the Daily Mail:
