There is a provident banner coming up on this forum encouraging people to apply for loans.........APR of 535%.
I know this is nothing to do with football but that is immoral, it should not be encouraged.

I think the banner ads I'm seeing are targetted at me based on cookies on my phone or suchlike, as some of them are things I've google searched recently. HOW embarassing.

I get one from a Boeing chief test pilot, which if clicked on suggests I should think about becoming part of their workforce. Can sites get confused about who they are targeting? Is there a budding young pilot somewhere confused as to why they are getting ads for football, rugby and , ahem, 'specialist' sites?

No Rex. Don't do it. You have enough problems behind the wheel of your old jalopy.

These annoying adverts, I think, help to pay for the site in some way; I have put in an advert blocker before and you get the message that the forum is losing money/funding. I should not think there is a filter.
Anyway, if they appear over time, there is often a cross at the top right corner, which is not a trap to click you through, and if you click on it you can get rid of that particular ad as options come up and one is to stop seeing it.

We are unable to control the adverts sorry. I use adblock plus (it is free) and it also stops annoying popups. Only problem I have found with it is if you want to view sites that show illegal (not that I would) sports coverage you have to disable it for that site.

To be fair, the banner ads aren't exactly a problem, they're discreet and I don't usually even notice them.
Its the pop up/redirect spam fake ads that are annoying. Invision should have sorted that that out by now. Adblock does kill them, but its a horrible browser to use on a phone.

if you want to view sites that show illegal sports coverage you have to disable it for that site. Which illegal sports do these sites cover? I can't imagine City Road Dogfighting attracts too much broadcasting interest.
