Two years ago today we were all off to the Mem to watch Rovers v AFC Telford (won 1-0) and planning our first ever league trip to Forest Green Rovers two days later in the Vanarama Conference. Who remembers that torrential rain and that steep hill up to Nailsworth !
Tonight we are playing former Premier League Champions and Champions League Winners Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the EFL cup. Gasheads who have enjoyed the ride over the past two years please savour the moment tonight as these big games do not happen very often. UTG

Remember the day well. Me, Dido, Rivers and Basel, had a cultural visit to Ironbridge before the game, and DC came over for a chat in the service station after the game. What I also remember is that the pub we went into at Ironbridge still had it's Halloween trimmings up from a party the previous night, which by my reckoning probably means that the game was played on November 1st and not two years ago today But I still agree with the sentiments of the post.
Edit.
I retract that and apologise!
You mean the home game, which I have no memory of whatsoever!

it was the Ollie Clarke strike at the Mem which got us on track to mount a promotion bid.

We were just mentioned on Talksport and they said something similar albeit Braintree were used for contrast
I look forward to contrasting tonight's trip to the Bridge with Alfreton away nearly 2 years ago

The funny thing is that 2 years ago i looked forward to FGR away, they were such important games for Rovers survival ( thats how it seemed to me anyway) I really enjoyed that season. Sadly I couldnt raise the interest to go to Chelsea last night, I know that I am in a minority ( maybe of one person) but the importance and emotion of the Conference season will never be repeated.

For me, I remember travelling down early from sunny Telford with my dad. Got into the Welly, having secured a good parking spot close to the ground, and talking to a couple of Telford fans who had travelled up from Cornwall to see them play. Also remember sitting in the supporters club bar watching a rather fat, yellow shirted Telford fan walk in in a determined manner who was then refused service and promptly left with his tail between his legs. I have to point out there are some areas in Telford where they live on instinct and not intelligence. Still Olly hit tthat screamer and we went home happy.

Ollie Clarke with a cracking goal in each fixture against them that year, to settle the game.
Both matches were shockers as well.

Ollie Clarke 1-0 h Ollie Clarke 1-0 a
Think both games, there wasn't alot to choose between teams.
I remember away match, home match uneventful, perhaps still in shock at being at non league football.. ?

A good day Rex,thanks for taking me there.I had forgot about the Halloween decor, but i do remember thinking when we arrived at the bridge,'oh this makes a change, abit of culture'.The pub front door was nicley situated at the other end of the Ironbridge,so we enjoyed some more 'culture'.I chatted to a veteran punk drummer Telford fan in another pub at Telford and it was nice to hear both our hearing still worked reasonably well! Decent stadium Telford.
