Now THAT was a team of footballers, brizzle. It seems to me that most of the top teams were stuffed full of talent though. Here's the team sheet from another London derby that I attended in 1966. The game was played at White Hart Lane and Spurs won 3-1, in front of a crowd of 56,271. Tottenham: Pat Jennings, Joe Kinnear, Phil Beal, Cyril Knowles, Mike England, Dave Mackay, Terry Venables, Alan Gilzean, Jimmy Greaves, Cliff Jones, Jimmy Robertson.Arsenal: Jim Furnell, Frank McLintock, Terry Neill, Peter Simpson, Ian Ure, George Armstrong, David Court, Jon Sammels, Tommy Coakley, Tommy Baldwin, John Radford.
But of all the players on view that afternoon, I was particularly impressed by Dave Mackay and Alan Gilzean. Mackay ''bossed'' the game from midfield, he never seemed to move at speed but just acted as The General, directing the other players with a wave of his arm or a shout. Gilzean was silky smooth, and elegant in his play and distribution. He was a marvellous header of the ball.

Only been there twice, never with Rovers. Once , I stood on the old shed and saw Villa win 1-0, which I think may have been Ian Porterfield's last game as manager, walking around the stadium before the game we bumped into him, and he was keen to talk, seemingly to get the fans on his side. My only other visit was to help a friend spread her husbands ashes on the pitch, and a tip for anyone who ever has to spread ashes, wear eye protection if it's windy! We spread my brothers ashes at a local beauty spot and people were pick nicking. I got the ashes and spun around to let them loose into the air, a gust of wind caught them and they ended up in pick nicks and on cars. My brother would have appreciated the last laugh but one bloke seriously wanted to do me harm. My aunt and his Mrs were the ones to get him to calm down. Thats a very good piece of advice Rex

I remember going there in 1962 when Keith "Keithy" Keitherson scored four for Chelsea in a 5-4 win. Lovely day stood on the Matthew Harding terrace, there was a Badgerline bus go from Fishponds and Terry "The Spatula" Bachelor stoved in some Chelsea lads face with a frying pan. There was only 262 at the game because it was a Football League Memorial Cup game between Rovers Colts and Chelsea Under 17's but we had fun. Gianfranco Ebola was on the bench for Chelsea that day. I see the humorous words but what I feel is someone who feels quite bitter and is no doubt one of those who will say, ironically, that you can't be a rovers fan if you never stood on the tote. I thought we were all in it together. Ah well, carry on
