Anyone there in 1980, amongst the 13,000 fans to see Flasher score in a 2-0 defeat, the last time we played at the Bridge?
Dennis Rofe was in that team.
....or any previous visits to Stamford Bridge?
Methinks this thread maybe threadbare.
Safe journey, Gas....let's give 'em a game

Only been there twice, never with Rovers. Once , I stood on the old shed and saw Villa win 1-0, which I think may have been Ian Porterfield's last game as manager, walking around the stadium before the game we bumped into him, and he was keen to talk, seemingly to get the fans on his side. My only other visit was to help a friend spread her husbands ashes on the pitch, and a tip for anyone who ever has to spread ashes, wear eye protection if it's windy!

Didnt go in 1980 even though i was working up there then, rovers were pretty crap then and going to chelsea as an away fan was pretty close to going to millwall, not a fun afternoon with a small away following, probably gave it a miss and went to a gig in the evening, bit safer. Was there when kanu scored a last minute winner for arsenal, that went down well with the locals, dodgy afterwards.

Never watched a game there but used to work in an office that overlooked the ground.

A complete commnication breakdown ( before mobile phones! ) meant that although I was in London and planning to meet a mate and go to the game in 1980 it didnt happen. I had already been to Chelsea that season to see them play West Ham in front of a large crowd ( of mainly hoolies it seemed). As I only count grounds that I have seen Rovers play at I should go to this one, but it being a night game and having things to do on wednesday I probably wont.

Went there to watch Chelsea play Liverpool one year. I felt like a wallet on legs. It was also so sterile with no entertainment before the game or at half-time.

Went there on 1 January 1976 for FA Cup third round tie. How I managed to stay alive is still a miracle! Those there the days when Ken Bates threatened to put an electric fence around the pitch. The open end was like a battle field. Replay at Eastville two days later was just as bad!

Yes went there in 1980. Evening game as I recall. Sat in the stand and all I can remember was Bob Lee's spectacular own goal. Long way out as I recall and couldn't believe it at the time. Can't remember anything positive about his time with us even though he was a big time signing ex Leicester and Sunderland.

No need to join the Army in the 70's, Just follow your Football club and you could go to war every weekend!, I was at the replay, remember seeing Chelsea Bab's at close range!.

Yes I was there on 08/10/1980 for my one and only visit.
Can remember nothing about the game. Just 13,108 fans attended.

I went there for the 2-0 defeat on Sat 19th March in 1977. Me and my mate asked a copper where the away fans entrance was and he directed us the Shed. It didn't take us long to work out we were in the wrong end and to keep our mouths shut and we managed to get a transfer to the other end. Didn't make much difference though because as far as we could tell there were only Chelsea fans in that end too, only less of them.
I remember this game and the Tottenham away game the following season (the infamous 9-0)where it looked as if we had absolutely no supporters in attendance at all!

I've been up to chelsea a few times as a home fan with some chelsea lads from Downend and also as an away fan following Forest in the early 90's.
Games against Sunderland fa cup 1/4 final stood in the shed for a 1-1 and Forest in the away end 0-0 were great, against Man Yoo after losing 1-3 was a poisonous atmosphere that i wouldn't want a repeat of either being a witness too or being the subjected of. i was very happy to get out of the area after that game.
still should be great tomorrow and i'm really looking forward to it as long as we do ourselves justice.
UTG!

Went there on a day trip on my tod, in March 2010 to watch West Ham. Decent little day out by national express coach & tube, stood in the away end right at the front just to the right of the goal. Amazing view of the action at that end but couldn't see f all at the other, including a worldie strike from Scott Parker straight in the top bin.
Other highlights include Rob Green giving me his training top after he was done with the Pre match warm up (gave it away to a Hammers mad colleague)
Main lowlights, being stood next to a green street wannabe bloke calling Drogba a c**t every two minutes. Oh and the hammers getting smashed 4-1.
Cannot wait for the day out tomorrow with 4000 Gasheads, will certainly be one to remember no matter what the score. We've all Visited way too many s***hole grounds (particularly the last few years) folllowing Rovers, so this will be a special matchday for sure.

I remember going there in 1962 when Keith "Keithy" Keitherson scored four for Chelsea in a 5-4 win. Lovely day stood on the Matthew Harding terrace, there was a Badgerline bus go from Fishponds and Terry "The Spatula" Bachelor stoved in some Chelsea lads face with a frying pan. There was only 262 at the game because it was a Football League Memorial Cup game between Rovers Colts and Chelsea Under 17's but we had fun. Gianfranco Ebola was on the bench for Chelsea that day.

Another schoolboy error, Chewy. No "bench" in 1962.

Another schoolboy error, Chewy. No "bench" in 1962. In a legal context, we've been losing court cases for years.

For some inexplicable reason I took a couple of lads a couple of years younger than me to watch Chelsea play millwall in a fa cup 3rd replay on a Monday night I gave it the big un as I knew my way around London through living there for a while and work would have to say the only thing I have ever seen on a par was when we sent millwall down in 1975 and old firm games these two lads were so trumatised I don't think either went to a football match for a long time still see one of them now and again think he's still shaking always doing stupid things in those days don't believe some of the things I got away with hope everyone going tomorrow stays safe utg

Yes, fine shot from way out just at the wrong end, following a cleared Chelsea corner I think. Great view from the big stand, plenty of empty seats around, no atmosphere.

I've been to Stamford Bridge twice, but never to watch Rovers play.
The first time was to watch Chelsea play in a local derby with Fulham in 1967, the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Chelsea's team that day was Peter Bonetti, Ron Harris, Jim Thomson, Colin Waldron, John Boyle, Marvin Hinton, Charlie Cooke, John Hollins, Tommy Baldwin, Peter Osgood, Bobby Tambling. Substitution: Peter Houseman for Peter Osgood. The attendance was 38,404. Probably because it was a local derby I remember it as being a really good game of football, played in excellent weather too.
Which contrasts sharply with my second visit in the mid-1980s, which was not very memorable at all. The visitors were Liverpool and the game was played in torrential rain from start to finish, and despite it being a 3pm kick-off it was extremely gloomy from the beginning of the game. But the worst part was the fact that we had seats at the front of the stand, and the rain dripped on our heads throughout the game. I remember very little about the game at all, but I think that Liverpool won. But to be honest by the end of the game I'd gone beyond caring.
