EFL Clubs have agreed, at their 2016 summer conference, to pilot a new format for the EFL Trophy as part of their ongoing commitment to creating more and better home grown players. The one season trial for season 2016/17 will include 64 teams made up of EFL League One and Two clubs, plus an additional 16 category 1 Premier League academy/under-21 sides.
Central to the competition will be the introduction of a new group stage format with 16 regional groups of four teams. The top two teams will progress to the knockout stages of the competition with the final staged at Wembley Stadium in April 2017.
Full details for 2016/17’s competition will be finalised within the next 14 days.

I wouldn't go to the games. If there's a mass boycott, they might get the message .

Has to be boycotted by ALL fans of FL clubs , if its allowed to happen with no protest its game over and prem b teams will be in FL before we know it, I do hope our club didn't vote for this , can only assume there's been an offer of a decent payment to all clubs otherwise I worry about the future as each club has a vote on these things ... Makes no sense ...

Not sure that is the right process for footy matters - but stand to be corrected - however I am against this proposal as it is the thin end of the wedge for this whole restructure thing in a couple of years. PL clubs not content with living in their own exalted world now want to mess with our set up. If the views against are strong enough how can we get them heard?

Is this instead of the Paint Pot, or a change to it?
it bugs me that the Football League runs competitions that include clubs that chose to leave it so that they could ring fence their income from the rest. See also the League Cup. I've long thought they should restrict the League Cup to league clubs, and collapse the Paint Pot into it, having a cup competition for those of us outside the money-swamped elite.

Okay, I have set it up, but I have to get 5 signature to make it visible apparently, I have a twitter account so have posted it on there- but I don't use it much and only have about 5 followers! How can other people see it.
My twitter is Rex-98730 if anyone knows how to share it!

In the regional group stage, presumably we'll be expected to play (and turn out to watch) Rovers v Swasea U21s. Horrendous notion. Nope.

Oh well, that's me done with that competition then. One less match to have to find the money to go to.
