At least us "ejitts" use punctuation. It makes things readable. Of course Darrell Clarke is lucky...... In the sense that Alex Ferguson was lucky. Being lucky is the outside perception ignoring all the hard work and planning. The main thing is he cares passionately about doing the best job he can. I believe Darrell will ask for extra resource if he feels he needs it.

The only doubt that I would cast on DC right now:
Will he be lucky in love and marriage?
We thoroughly enjoyed Wael's stag-night on Gloucester Rd on Saturday - it was just a shame that we couldn't carry the Manager down on our shoulders alongside him. Unlucky for DC to miss out. Still one of my favourite BRFC memories ever.

I think the op and title is valid and worth debating.
Football, like many other things in life rely on luck to a lesser or more degree.
There is timing (a more advantageous time to play teams) involved, too.
Superstition plays it's part too. Especially with fans.
I think the only reason we went up was because a friend of mine went for a lucky/magic p*ss every match she watched and voila - promotion!
That's got to be it..

Didn't Geoffrey Bubbles put the 2001 relegation down to 'luck and chemistry'?
If that's the case then we have a Nobel prize worthy chemist right now. I believe in karma, this is payback for the bad karma from 2000-2006, and again from 2009-2014. As Chewie said, DC isn't lucky, us fans are (finally) the lucky ones.

The more he works at tactics, formations and training the players the luckier he gets!

Hardly. He's one of a new breed of managers who drill in tactics but also find a plan b and has changed formation mid game even subbed players in the first half. He's got a formula that works, he knows how to get certain players to respond and demands commitment and fitness. He also makes difficult decisions like dropping mildenhall last season then look how he bounced back this season. In dc we trust.

I don't see anyone saying this about Eddie Howe at Bournemouth. It wasn't luck that got us here but the phenomenal team spirit and togetherness that Darrell has developed. Change the dynamic and you risk losing that completely We should all know how that goes as Higgs ripped the 07 squad apart and thought he could buy in the players needed. A mercenary team that never ever played for the shirt and it was the start of the worst decline in our clubs history. I think it's important to keep the nucleus of this squad and bring in a few additional but quality signings. We must not give up the team spirit that DC has developed

I don't see anyone saying this about Eddie Howe at Bournemouth. No for him it may have been the £38.3m on players wages which were 3 times the club turnover and earned AFCB a £7m fine for breaching FFP rules. There's a reason why they get called Chelsea-by-the-Sea

A heated exchange based on use of vocabulary.
I bet you don't get this in The Trident?

Wasn't the 2001 relegation put down to the law of averages and that we were due a period in the bottom division anyway? If that applies universally, then Arsenal are due one hell of a rocky patch soon.

I'll stick my neck out here for argument's sake and say he'd probably say he was fortunate that he got away with his last gasp tactics two years in a row. Team spirit and togetherness will kick the fat lady into touch, but no third time lucky next season for me please, my nerves are already shattered.

Think I am going leave this before it gets too personal I'll have a look back in the new year and see if we are all still so elated
