Anyone see anything of him Saturday, he seems to have disappeared ? I don't recall seeing him around the last fortnight or so but perhaps I haven't been in the right place ?

Yep - in dressing room - looked like he went full John Terry (kit on to celebrate!).

Watch the changing room video, he's in that. Really, that's where he should stay. About apart from a brilliant free kick and a couple of mins here and there, I struggled to see just why he was picked because of his lack of consis.

You can't show consis(tency) if your not selected. I think he was signed to cover if Lines got injured.

we're now in same situation as Shrewsbury
helped us (in a little way) get promotion but they then obviously didn't believe he was good enough for Lge 1 (and in a team that struggled)

We did need a bigger squad and with the injuries to Sinclair and Mansell at the time it was a needed signing IMO. He struggled against Pompey and matches with a fast tempo but against Crawley he was OK and wasn't pressured so much. I think in league 1 he will be by passed by the pace perhaps but it was just tinkering with the squad by DC not wholesale change. Good business I think and having missed last 6 matches or so he obviously hasn't rocked the boat so perhaps a good squad man.

Saturday, photograph: Joe Meredith ( Dag & Red 7.5.16 photographs) It's pity that it hasn't seemed to work out for LL, I was quite excited when we signed him, I hoped he would make a contribution similar to the one Chris Lines made last season, bringing an extra touch of class.

This might be a minority view, but I thought Liam Lawrence made a good contribution in several games, especially some of the awkward ones.
Whilst it's great to see Rovers in full attacking pomp, sometimes the opposition proved difficult to break down, and very effective on the counter attack. Darrell had to choose to give priority to a more robust set-up than the XI that started against Dagenham or York, for example.
I don't recall Lawrence jinking through the defence a la Bodin or Montano, but neither do I remember him giving the ball away. Sometimes, that latter quality is exactly what we needed at certain times in certain games.
From memory:
LL was one of the most effective performers at Accrington (A), linking well down the left side with Lee Brown and finding ways to stretch the very good Stanley back four. He also carved out space for a few shots in the second half, which could have got us a draw.
At Carlisle, he was one of the early subs. Rovers did enough to win that game by a couple of goals, because of the quality of our passing-game, of which LL was one of the best practitioners.
At home (can't really remember which games - all those wins are a blur now!), he put in a good shift in full games against Morecambe and Hartlepool, and bit-part roles against Cambridge and Exeter, and Crawley (in which he scored from the free-kick).

Unfortunately that non performance away at Portsmouth still sticks in the mind, honestly forgot he was on the pitch until half time when a few fellow Twitterers were slagging him off.
He would be ok against the lesser teams of L2, but certainly wont be up to L1 standard imo.
It was worth taking him to add to the numbers last season, but he wont be taking us forward.

I completely disagree! There were a couple of good things, but he seemed anonymous most of the time. He scored a wonder free kick, put in some useful deliveries from corners and had a decent half v Hartlepool in a 'monkhouse' type way supporting Brown on left. Maybe am expecting too much, but I thought his overall contributions were poor and disappointing.

When signing for us he was promised a new contract if we went up so there's a good chance that he'll be with us next season.

He wasn't very good at Accrington either; in fact he was rubbish

When passing judgement please bear in mind that Liam Lawrence had never played wide left before he joined us this season.
No matter how experienced you are I imagine it takes some time to get used to playing a new role: decision making when on the ball; positional play when looking for a pass, or when the opposition in possession of the ball, to name a few.
I get the impression DC was looking for him to play a similar role to Monkhouse last season, but he never really had sufficient time to adjust. Whether he would have had more of an influence in a central or wide right role is up for debate. I think he may have been battling to gain full fitness at the same time.
He definitely contributed to our ascent, including helping DC's squad rotation policy and rest time gained for other players.

I think the phrase "you cant teach an old dog new tricks" springs to mind.
I'm surprised if he has never played in that position in his long career but as we got promotion I wont be holding that against DC, he's allowed some errors and I believe Lawrence was one.
