Stay of the pitch. Simples really. Think about all those who may want to see the players in celebration, if due, especially the kids. If there is any reason to celebrate then everyone should be in the right place, players on pitch together fans in together on terraces or in stands.

And no horse punching please, they have feelings too. I went to the Gold Cup and Grand National this year, if I see any of the horses I lost money on, I will be punching & kicking them.

Back in the day (which lasted well into Twerton time, to my mind at least) I think it was fairly standard for the end of the last day of the season for people to exit the ground via the pitch, and not viewed as a major issue. I don't know when and why it became such a taboo, rather than an indulgence not to be abused. Rioting should be objected to, but that shouldn't equate to a removal of all passion. Then again, I won't rock their daft boat and, as per Sprout, I have this vague memory of 'now what?' once the hallowed turf had been walked on, soI won't be going on the pitch.
But...' The FA has viewed with concern a number of incidents at this stage last season involving pitch incursions by spectators.'
Really? Leaving aside the pompous nature of the statement, as if issued from a distant ivory tower in which buffers in blazers have been disturbed by rumours they've heard of what the oiks are up to, why not chill out? I could probably rattle off ten far more significant issues the FA should, but consistently fails to, address.

I think they don't want sheeds punching horses pretending to be gasheads, then trying to get the moral high ground about it. And if one of our ex players was hit by a fan, whilst definitely not condoning it, we should not have lectures from them about it, their track record is at best questionable with abusing their own!!!! In all seriousness everyone behave, it's not the end of the world if it's the playoffs, or not going up, the futures bright, it's blue and white!!! UTG

Bristol Rovers have been reminded by the FA of the potential for mass pitch incursions by supporters at this time of the season as these pose a threat to the safety of players, officials and spectators. Supporters are required to remain in the stands and should be reminded of such prior to any potential 'lap of honour' to be made by the team. Announcements will be made of the PA system before the final whistle to alert the fans that players will only come out if the pitch remains clear. The FA has viewed with concern a number of incidents at this stage last season involving pitch incursions by spectators. Such incidents have resulted in clubs being charged and subsequently fined up to £200,000 by Regulatory Commissions. Bristol Rovers have been asked to review our procedures for dealing with mass incursions to ensure that appropriate measures are in place to deal with such incidents. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action being taken against the club in even of an incursion. Everyone at Bristol Rovers would like to ask supporters to remain off the pitch whatever the outcome on Saturday. Read more at www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/article/end-of-season-pitch-incursions-3096303.aspx#BorZGOKcFsx6PbE6.99The English public has viewed with concern a pitiful underperformance by the national football team at international tournaments over the past fifty (forty-nine) years; excellence flair and style being developed and practiced elsewhere whilst we have stagnated under guys in sheepskin coats; rich clubs being allowed to suck the lifeblood from the rest, and then blow their resources on foreign managers and players, not least because there isn't the infrastructure or culture to develop the required skills and expertise from local resources; and supporters priced out of a game run on the finances of the madhouse, generating vast millions of debt. The FA is asked to sort its act out, rather than playing the po faced big man on non-problems. Failure to do so may result in them continuing to be a hopeless dead loss.

I also do not see the point in going on the pitch... I can't see Northampton being punished, so why would we? Or every team that has ever been promoted ever. Ridiculous.

Messages from Nick Day via Twitter about staying off the pitch.

Just want to be sure, do you think Nick Day wants people to 'STAY OFF THE PITCH'?
Anyway he seems to have done some detailed planning depending on results. If this had been the old board, someone would have been planning in the last 20mins of the game on the back of a fag packet.

If we are promoted, sky will be building a platform for the players so needs the fans off the pitch.
Sky have ruined our game.

Don't worry they have to say this for safety reasons, so say if a drunken twat decides to scale the goalpost and falls off injuring him/herself then they couldn't be held liable.
Saying that, you are more likely to cause yourself a mischief trying to negotiate the Uplands steps when its busy!
