This was a very frustrating game. We huffed and puffed a bit but we just didn't do enough going forward. We looked like we were aiming for a nil nil draw. We defended well though which was good but we put too much emphasis on defending a clean sheet than trying to score to win the game. I think we had around 5 shots which I can only remember 2 going on target. This is not good enough if we wanted to win the game. I have no idea why Darrell went so defensive instead of trying to actually win the game and when he did change things, it was too late as we already wasted the 1st half.
Last season at Dover we frew 1-1 which costed us the championship. This evenings game may have just costed us automatic promotion.
Hopefully not though.

They chased and defended in numbers trying for the point that guaranteed survival . They were wasting as much time as possible from the start ,and got their result . We didn't have the quality or luck to break them down , and now I think we need 3 wins to have a good chance of top 3

Also made it so so easy for them at the back, with the hopeless long balls straight down the middle. We weren't even dropping it into the channels & making their back line turn and get a chase on.
The number 2 at centre half will have a headache tonight. He won EVERYTHING.

Yes you'd think we would have changed our tactic of putting crosses into the box based on their number 2's performance, he was excellent. We needed to replicate what we did against Northampton and get down their flanks to get their defence turning and then put in low crosses. Unfortunately that didn't happen as we took off Leadbitter at half time and didn't bring on Montano, either or both of whom could have provided that change in tactic. A shame but they were never going to lie down and let us run riot, they required a point and defended for their lives

Disappointing, and if we don't win all 3 it's play-offs in my opinion. I think 3 wins will be enough and Accy/Oxford will at least draw one of their remaining 3. Can see Plymouth winning all 3 on current form.
Still, would have definitely taken play-offs at start of the season following the vanarama

Yes - nearly as frustrating as Dover was last year. Although to replicate it Stevenage would have had to score a last minute equalizer - and they never had any intention of scoring. Just no sense of urgency. OK - Stevenage didn't want 'to play'. That's no excuse for not being able to break down the 88th worst team in England. For 60 minutes we were just poor.

Nothing like Dover, that was a gut punch. This is a bump on the road, but think it's what we needed to galvanise.

Listening to the game, at times it seemed like John Ward was back.

But what it has done in combination with other results last night is taken our destiny in the automatic slots out of our hands and passed it to others. We have to win and hope now rather than win and collect the prize. Maybe a twist or two to come yet but you have to think that Stanley will do the business over York - Pompey thought that as well no doubt - but the thing is if by some chance they get a result there on Saturday it gives them a fighting chance for their next home game which is where we come in......hmm!

It wasn't in our hands though, if other teams had scored mega goals we still wouldn't have gone up...
