Was full of adverts for me -
Ahead of Dagenham back along FrattonBlue looked at the remaining games Northampton, Oxford, Bristol Rovers, Plymouth, Accrington, Wycombe and the Blues had and asked 'can we finish in the top 3?'
Here is a reminder of what was said...
Two wins in a row has brought back belief again and I know it can be a bad thing to get over optimistic with Pompey, seeing as how many times they have disappointed, yet I have!
Been looking at the remaining fixtures for teams in the top 7 and going over the league table to try and forecast the points we would need for automatic promotion.
NORTHAMPTON: 11pts
Bristol Rovers (H) - Draw
Exeter (A) - Draw
Crawley (H) - Win
Yeovil (A) - Win
Luton (H) - Win
Pompey (A) - Loss
OXFORD: 8 pts
Crawley (A) - Draw
Luton (H) - Draw
Newport (A) - Win
Hartlepool (H) - Win
Carlisle (A) - Loss
Wycombe (H) - Loss
BRISTOL ROVERS: 13 pts
Northampton (A) - Draw
Yeovil (H) - Win
Stevenage (A) - Win
Exeter (H) - Loss
York (A) - Win
Dag & Red (H) - Win
PLYMOUTH: 8 pts
AFC Wimbledon (H) - Draw
Pompey (A) - Loss
Orient (A) - Draw
Dag & Red (H) - Win
Cambridge (A) - Loss
Hartlepool (H) - Win
ACCRINGTON STANLEY: 10 pts
Luton (A) - Win
Morecambe (H) - Draw
Hartlepool (A) - Loss
York (H) - Win
Wycombe (A) - Loss
Stevenage (H) - Win
POMPEY: 16 pts
Dag & Red (A) - Win
Plymouth (H) - Win
York (A) - Win
Wycombe (H) - Draw
AFC Wimbledon (A) - Win
Hartlepool (A) - Loss
Northampton (H) - Win
WYCOMBE: 13 pts
York (A) - Win
Barnet (H) - Win
Yeovil (H) - Draw
Pompey (A) - Loss
Accrington Stanley (H) - Win
Oxford (A) - Win
That would leave the league table after 46 games, looking like this:
1. Northampton - 98 pts
2. Bristol Rovers - 84 pts
3. Pompey - 82 pts
4. Oxford - 81 pts
5. Accrington Stanley - 81 pts
6. Plymouth - 79 pts
7. Wycombe - 74 pts
WE CAN DO IT! Keep the faith. PUP.
Then again, I could be completely wrong....
Since that point Pompey beat Dagenham 4-1 to keep the automatic hopes alive!
That was followed up by the gutting comeback from Plymouth to beat us 2-1 at Fratton to seriously damage the top 3 hopes, probably making them unlikely but it's not over just yet is it!
We get our 2nd update from FrattonBlue with this...
Update 2:
Exeter vs NORTHAMPTON
Predicted: Draw
Result: Draw
OXFORD vs Luton
Predicted: Draw
Result: Loss
BRISTOL ROVERS vs Yeovil
Predicted: Win
Result: Win
POMPEY vs PLYMOUTH
Predicted: Pompey Win
Result: Plymouth Win
ACCRINGTON STANLEY vs Morecambe
Predicted: Draw
Result: Draw
WYCOMBE vs Barnet
Predicted: Win
Result: Draw
Results (minus Rovers) go in our way and we fail to win. Typical! Going to be extremely difficult now. On the bright side, if we beat York on Tuesday and Wycombe lose to Yeovil, a play-off place is guaranteed.
