... if he'd have been given more of a chance at Rovers. As probably one of the only ones on here stoopid enough to love WWE wrestling. I draw your attention to this sign in the crowd Attachments:

Wasn't he the left winger we had? (Bobby Z not the guy holding the sign)

Ok will rephrase, wasn't he the striker we decided to play on the left wing?

No he was our 4th choice striker who played a total of 4 games. We sold him and with add ons and a sell on clause we ended up receiving over a million pounds.

For all his faults, and other threads are available for their debate, that Geoffrey Dunford knew how to play the long game when it came to selling a player. Rovers still getting paid literally years after a player has left the club does look like rather good forethought.

Ye great, bang went our forwards and then relegation, that's not good foresight. I don't disagree, but that wasn't my point, and I was thinking more generally about more than one transfer. Whether the choice to sell was idiotic or not; more than once we got decent value on players via sell-on clauses.

He went on loan to Brighton in the league below and scored regularly and we still didn't give him a go.
Fair enough we got a lot of money considering he only played a handful of games for the gas, but he was a future England international ffs.

You simply must not spoil the love in going on with GD by quoting factual information. It's just not the way don't ya know lol anyway, he bought Rickie Lambert and gave Ron Craig a promotion winning side. How ungrateful can we get.

I merely gave credit where I felt it was due, as I remember more than once BRFC getting paid very well from sell-on clauses or whatever long after a player was transferred out. That doesn't detract from my disdain for Ernie's petty, supercillious, or dishonest behaviours. There's no love in, brother.

But I applaud the foresight of the sell-ons negotiated. City 1982 are 2-0 up as I write. Now if we can only win at Northampton I think we'll go up and forget about aforementioned relegations all the easier.
