Reading this forum over the last week or so, it occurred to me that it might be a very good thing that NH isn't still on the board. Nothing personal to him, just that the Al Qadis probably represent a welcome 'new broom'
The reason is that the old guard, who have been around a long time with occasional re-shuffling of the pack, don't from this distance seem to have worked all that well together - it has been, instead, something of a small village soap opera (Dibley?). I'm thinking about.....
the boardroom split that was so bitter ('takeover battle' in my eyes) Cinderellas not being allowed to go to their balls (by the ugly sisters?) personal bans from the ground, funerals etc 'I'm not selling my shares unless we all sell our shares'
It really doesn't make anyone look good, does it - or am I missing something?
Maybe the Al Qadis will have their own family bickering, and disagreements with the staff, but in these early days they do seem to have set a much better tone. And won 4 out of 5 so far (although, as they say, form is temporary)

The same thought occurred to me, approximately 0.001 seconds after news of the takeover was announced. And I'm not sure what took me that long!

The only comparison to draw between the two are the titles.
The humble approach, the dignity, honesty and respect, the open approach shown so far is a much needed breath of fresh air.
IMO trying to draw any other comparison is like trying to make a connection between a Porsche and a Lada.

NH had a majority shareholding and so set the tone, best for all for him to go.
It's not unusual to keep someone of the old guard to know where the skeletons in the cupboards are, in our case TW, but when he/she outlives his/her usefulness is usually dispensed of.

What I don't understand are those that are suspicious of the new guys and the court case verdict brought a few of those out. It does seem that the previous board have acted so badly that many are now just suspicious by nature. I think it's going to take some time for everyone to get on board and understand that this family really are the real deal and that they feel no need to come out and defend what was very much the problem that was created by the previous administration. I think it was a master stroke to get Watola to front up to the cameras and keep a distance from the proceedings. There has been a hell of a lot of damage done and it will not just be healed overnight but I have faith that it will happen and that we will see the damage put behind us. Right now, there are still a fair few who feel sore from the constant fight. Hoping we now give peace a chance, be patient and watch how good businessmen go about their jobs.

My only concern with this board is that supporters may lose patience waiting for the UWE build to start, because it could be another 6-12 months before we know anything concrete

I think you're right about the patience but I think the Al Qadi family will have their expert team update on progress and we will get an end product that will be better suited and allow us access to more of the income. It did seem, from the very little information I managed to get, that the previous chairman, was prepared to cede all car park income to UWE amongst other things and that UWE had the upper hand in the negotiations but that has now changed & of course, the family are now redressing these things plus adding a few ideas if their own. You will know more than me about this Ian, I just see it as the new owners trying to get what is both best for the club and them with regards to revenue and how to get the most out of the FFP system.

After 17 years of team under-performance, Club mis-management and general frustration - we only have another 6-12 months to wait? Not a problem. Blink of an eye.

Yes, I said at the beginning the biggest problem they may face will be managing fans expectations. On here it has been very sensible, most know it will be as you've said. But others?

I stand corrected. 17 years of team under-performance. 10 years of Club mis-management and general frustration. ... and don't forget how bad the Pasties have been The cheese pasties are bloody lovely but I wish we could go back to the old proper Cornish pastie lot. I don't know why they got rid of them but their offerings were very good and full of decent meat. The pies now are mostly like hockey pucks and I wouldn't even buy them for a pound. Bloody awful

Higgs had to go.
New owners would have been tainted by association.
Odd he hasn't popped on here to put the record straight.......

And won 4 out of 5 so far (although, as they say, form is temporary) No,no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, yes. It feels to me like I'm starting to fall in love again with an old girlfriend. (The Yatton branch of Age Concern have been put on a state of high alert)
