The conditions were there in black and white, we agreed to them, 2 courts have ruled that nothing outside of the scope of the contract has occurred. So logically, according to you, we have agreed to an immoral contract? If I'm selling a property and a bid comes in significantly higher than any other I'll treat it with suspicion. We need to get beyond blaming others for f@ck ups on Higgs' watch. We agreed all of the contract terms, we didn't see that they had an easy out until it was too late. I'm waiting for an apology statement from Higgs. Why would he ? He is in Italy pissing some of your gate money up against the wall, laughing all the way to the bank I think he has done a blinder convincing a very rich family to take a dying club of his hands... If he got all of his money back I'll eat my hat. What he owned was a liability that was slowly eating itself, and he knew that he was about to have to put a public face to another humiliation in the courts.

Dying? I think that reconstructive surgery is being planned after the last owner took it on an unhealthy diet of non league football and poor gambling. He got lucky that Sainsbury's won and hopefully so have we.

In Higgs we trust? If he had thought that we were going to win, he would not have sold the club, would he? The drawn-out pantomime is now over. Can we now get rid of Watola? He is associated with the whole sorry episode from start to finish. He has no credibility left with BRFC supporters and should be dispensed with. Harsh, but perfectly fair. Well Vaughan, seems NH could never win in your eyes, he pursued a course he thought could progress the club and with 20/20 hindsight turns out, according to you that is, he was wrong To even try. He finds a buyer for the club and that's was wrong as well. Not having a go at you Vaughan but at the general attitude of some on here who believe it was a sin to even try, albeit using his own money.

So typical of everything that was wrong with our club. He couldn't go public with Plan B whilst we were involved with Sainsbury's, but he can't tell us what that plan was now either. Don't slam the door on your way out Watola.

I agree with that Geoff all bar I believe that the new owners found us the moment Sainsbury's pulled out of the deal.

There can be a difference between legal and moral. We had a number of bids for the Mem at the time, we accepted the highest. Some years down the line, they pull out because it suits them to.
Ignoring the court case, Sainsburys cost us a lot of money with this spoiling bid, both in the direct spend on the Mem redevelopment and UWE stadium, and opportunity cost if we had sold to somebody who was actually serious about buying. If this was a deal to sell your house, you'd be pretty hacked off with the other party, and we are well within our rights to be hacked off by the poor business behaviour of Sainsburys.
The conditions were there in black and white, we agreed to them, 2 courts have ruled that nothing outside of the scope of the contract has occurred. I'm waiting for an apology statement from Higgs. Higgs was duped in my eyes, and I'm not letting him off the hook for allowing himself to be duped. However, I'm not letting Sainsburys off the hook either for their spoiling tactics. The contract wasn't immoral, but Sainsbury's reasons for entering it were, as we now know.

No, we don't know any such thing. Market conditions changed, had they moved in the opposite direction there would be a store built there today. We missed a trick and didn't make sure that we understood exactly what the planners needed to approve the extended hours at the first time of asking. With so much riding on that application we have nobody to blame but ourselves.

Supreme Court...are they living in some parallel universe or something? Are they completely delusional? This must be the end of it now. Move on and move up. It's taken too long, most of the time knowing that we were shafted by Sainsbury's because of our own incompetence. Someone said at the time UWE was announced we're Bristol Rovers things like this don't happen it's too good to be true. How right they were! Overall we were outwitted by a bigger, richer more savvy company. That they have a long line of similar cases show them up for what they are, a money making organisation with no qualms and no morals about shafting any group that gets in their way. As for working with their community, the idea is laughable. What they mean is they will work with their community (take their money), serve their community (take their money) and when it suits their business will make more money. However I am not surprised at this because that is what big business does it makes money unapologetically, why are we surprised? We were just as bad only smaller, poorer and with our BOD and legal team completely out of our depth. NH and the rest thought they had found the answer and did his best. Watertight!!! It was as watertight as some of our loan goalies over the past 5 years! We decided to go with them so we got all we deserved, what the **** did we expect? I have never had the stamina to follow every response, every thread on this issue and I know some of you know far more than me but for everyone's sake, esp Bristol Rovers FC let us move on over the next few days and trust that our new board live in a more business savvy world. I'm sure they do. Now all I want is to beat Newport on Saturday and have a good Easter and forget about Sainsbury's. Whatever, UTG!

Thank you. This was told me by a close friend after he had a round of golf with NH. This friend, who I've known for 45 years has never lied to me before. Much appreciate that comment

Seems some the 'teds are knocking one out over their family members with this news!!
To be expected for most of us I think. They must have been gagging for another gift following the recent progress on and off the pitch.

I don't imagine the new ownership would waste time or money and start with a relatively clean slate without anymore sh*t hanging over the project

The new lawyers are looking at it and have a short period of time to lodge. Thought he was saying what was happening!
Not sure if the current board's plan b is the same as the previous plan b.

No other Directors wanted to put money in to this f******g obvious long drawn out legal disaster. Therefore the money Nick Higgs gambled with in Court was part MSP and part OURS. OUR MONEY that we paid for in tickets, shirts, merchandise etc etc and we don't get it back. We paid for his folly.

The fact that Nick Higgs gambled with our money makes me quite cross.

They must have been gagging for another gift following the recent progress on and off the pitch. Well if that is so, it just goes to prove how daft and desperate that lot are. I believe that the decision is irrelevant to the future of BRFC. A ''yes'' would have been nice moneywise of course, but I don't believe that it will affect our short, mid or long-term future. So just tell 'em that we will have a new stadium, and a successful team sooner than they expect, 'cos that's what frightens 'em.
