I have been banned from gong on the OTIB forum. I have, as far as I know, not posted anything that deserved it.
I only posted on one thread called something like "sell out rovers" or something like that. From page 126 onwards I posted about 6 comments, nothing offensive, just some banter etc.
Perhaps they don't do banter or humour. For those who go on there, have a look and see what you make of it. My forum name on there was JAFAR.

They are a bitter and twisted bunch now so christ no"s what they will get like IF we start to get closer on and off the park, trouble is they have had it all their own way for years and like a spoilt child they dont like sharing the limelight, bring it on.

I couldn't go on their s**t forum and be polite. They were hoping that we would have gone bust and folded. What sort of people would want another team to go out of business. I wouldn't not even them.

In fairness it's already happened to them once so it would be rather unfair on them for it to happen again, wouldn't it ?

And you ask people that were there like my old man and he will tell you the club came out the other side of that episode the better for it. It was a long way back but look at us now. A 2nd tier club with a bright future.
I remember as a boy shaking Geoff Merrick's hand outside the Dolman stand and being told without him we might not even have a club to watch.

I agree but seeing them floating around mid table of the Conference South would give me a constant warm glow

I asked them to help a fellow (ex) soldier as I did gasheads and the response I got from both sets of fans will be one of the happiest / most proud thing that I have been involved in.

I think, generally, you're better setting your own standards and ambitions than using someone else as a benchmark to justify yourself, and let's face it, we've been a crap benchmark. Leave them to it.

They banned me too for no reason at all - no offensive langauge, no personal attacks. The mods over there are little girls who eject toys from their pram on a whim. I wouldn't bother with them, their forum is an echo chamber for inbreds anyhoo.

Kaiser, I wish I had access to the radio interview that Geoff Merrick did. It would have been around 8/10 years ago. Whilst your club may have benefitted &, let's face it, it has although many paid an awful price for that. I know I can have some banter over many of the rivalry related topics but this period is not one of them. Merrick went into detail on how these legends were treated & by their own fans. Threatened while out shopping, faeces put through the letterbox, physical abuse and even death threats. Those 8 players have to be applauded for their actions but I believe, to be able to draw a real line under it, those players should have an apology and have some sort of compensation, in whatever way THEY feel fit. I won't go into the wider issues and implications, that small & local businesses suffered as it doesn't reflect and detracts from the real hell that those 8 players went through. I was in sales for over 18 years and got to meet many of those legends, through Paul Cheesely, who I count as a close friend. I've heard the real story and please believe me, it paints the club as lower than I could articulate and it has obviously left some still very vivid scars. I believe in forgiving but not forgetting. I don't forget because I don't want to continue to make the same errors and mistakes. I do have the hard drive that I kept the recording on but I would need to work on it, to retrieve the data. I think you would be shocked at the level of very real trauma that the AG8 suffered & I honestly believe that Geoff Merrick is suffering still, it really is listening to a guy suffering PTSD. Maybe you think I am being dramatic but I am not. It hurt to hear it, not as a Rovers supporter but as a human being. Imagine going shopping only to be threatened, spat at and abused ? People wonder why some still hold onto the hatred but I think it understandable when you see the whole picture, instead of the painting. This is not a pop at you nor is it a pop at city, as they are now. It would be very good if your club actually did something tangible, to redress the situation for those players. Just my tuppence worth fella. BTW. I don't buy into the holier than thou ethos and I believe that Rovers could have been better placed had we have taken the route of admin but I know I am treading thin ice on that one.

What I have never understood is how Billionaire City fan Steve Lansdown has never seemingly done anything about the Ashton Gate 8. (Apologies Kaiser if I am wrong)

OTIB - is quite a vindictive, horrible little board. ive posted a few sensible, well rounded things on their and i just get slagged off, its like a mass school bully club. I checked out a swindon board the other day (thats how exciting my life is), and they were complimentary about our new ownership etc, i was quite shocked.

I'm no fan of OTIB to be honest. I post on there occasionally and mainly following games on the match thread.
The moderators there though are pathetic. You only have to look at one of their Twitter pages to see what they are like.
It's never been a site I like, I usually use it for obvious convenience.
