Rightly or wrongly, I like the cut of his jib (Mr Al Qadi). Impeccable English (he was privately schooled here I suppose), but good manners too.
No five year promotion plans. Long term planning seems to be about building the business, growth, and sustainability of the football club. Many among us will like the sounds about producing players. Success would be great, but sweeter with Bristolians in the first team.
I am not too concerned about the chairman. When do you ever hear about the Chairman of Chelsea or Manchester City? The owners are all powerful, whoever has directorial or executive responsibilities. Everyone else can be hired and fired according to performance.
This was not true of owner chairman Nicholas Higgs.

Yes, fair point about the chairman. And on the plus side of the ledger apparently Hamer has an unbelievable network of contacts throughout English football which can only be a good thing.

Totally mirrors my thoughts this post, with a belting hangover it's hard to digest what has happened to our club, really impressed with the cut of Waels jib There is no doubting the family have done their homework on us and come into the job with eyes wide open.

Here's an article on Steve Hamer from a few years back from a Swansea City supporter. Good and bad in the article. I have to say I like Wael based on his interviews and his biog but I'm not sold on Steve. A lot of water has passed under the bridge since his Swansea days of course but it isn't exactly a glowing reference. www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/swanseacity/news/21148/a-chairman-electAnyone who stands in the away end at Portsmouth and learns the words to goodnight Irene is alright with me. No surprise that Hamer was at Portsmouth...he was part of a failed bid to take over the club! www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/21367822
