nnounced to City of Bristol council their intention to sell the memorial stadium, my querie is is why now ? The Sale of the mem saga has been dragging on for years or is this a partof a plan B that is already in operation with perhaps the fabled consortium bid ? Could it be Landsdown buying it back for the Rugby , or perhaps something to do with the UWE and sport? The other thing to consider is that I have also read before Christmas that the Memorial stadium site has now had a condition put in place that it should remain as a site for sports and recreation so where would that leave Sainsburys if the appeal judges overturns the original verdict and force them to honour the contract? That means they have a piece of real estate that can't have a supermarket on it , all very confusing this situation perhaps someone in the know can answer these posers?

The Bishopston Society applied for The Memorial Stadium site to be made an 'Asset of Community Value' (ACV). Because of this BRFC have to state their intention to sell (which we all know we plan to do anyway). To read more about what The Bishopston Society have done read these articles, best in chronological order (they are linked anyway): www.bishopstonsociety.org.uk/news/our-news/751-memorial-stadium-an-asset-of-community-valuethen www.bishopstonsociety.org.uk/news/our-news/754-bristol-city-council-accepts-nomination-of-memorial-stadium-as-an-asset-of-community-value-by-tbsthen www.bishopstonsociety.org.uk/news/other-news/773-memorial-stadium-for-saleFor more information about what this means for BRFC, have a look at some of the articles BRSC have published about it on their website: bristolroverssc.co.uk/2016/01/18/eligible-cig/And prior to that: bristolroverssc.co.uk/2015/12/23/what-is-an-acv/- When I first heard about this my thoughts were, "Oh no, not another obstacle for us..." But now I've had time to reflect I think it's an act of desperation from The Bishopston Society / TRASH. My reading is they've realised they have completely messed up and BRFC plan to move whatever the outcome of the Sainsburys court case. They may have blocked the planned supermarket, but they might actually end up with something far worse. - They had a chance of getting a much needed supermarket, in a run-down section of high street, with little to no retail competition in the area, with free car-parking, and a memorial garden, but now they might end up with ... who knows? More houses, maybe high rise housing (planning permission has previously been granted for high rise stands, containing student / hotel accommodation). - They might have blocked the chance to have money from Sainsburys pour into Bristol, which would have knock-on effects for other facilities, investment and infrastructure. You could argue that they might have blocked the chance to put a nail in the coffin of a large company. Sainsburys would have parted with the money by now, when they say they no longer want to build, if TRASH hadn't delayed matters with the JR. You'd think people on the side of the Independents would be quite pleased that would happen. - My view is that the only people who have a say about whether The Memorial Stadium is an ACV is the people that use it ... and that ain't The Bishopston Society, nor TRASH.

So I take it then that the concerned people from TBS would have been amenable to contributing to funds to maintain the fabric of the stadium if we had decided to stay? Where have their concerns for the stadium been all these years? Or was it that these hypocritical intellectual pygmies were only woken into a state of concerned agitation by the their NIMBY attitude to having a supermarket on their doorstep? Beneath contempt.

Your post definitely makes things seem a lot more clearer , and I really hope this does backfire on the artist formerly known as trash
