"Were you one of the 13,000 fans at Reading that wonderful Saturday afternoon" Well I was deinitely at the game, but I remember it as an evening match? (Or am I confusing it with the game the following year when Martin Allen's 'psych wars' with Ian Holloway led to the latter being sent to the stand?)

That was the evening game, the second you refer to. Also Mad Dog quickly changed his top so ref could not find him to send him to stand!

I remember at the end of the game saying to my daughter, look at the scoreboard and remember it forever - you dont get many days like this supporting Rovers !

Jamie Cureton scored four and Jason Roberts 2 All six scored in the second half and no goals for Barry Hayles. Were you one of the 13,000 fans at Reading that wonderful Saturday afternoon. I was. 1st away game with my mates, should have just knocked it on the head after that!

Cureton and Roberts rightly got all the plaudits but I remember Mark McKeever being an absolute world beater that day. Was in his first spell (on loan from Wednesday) when he looked like George Best. I think Reading snapped him up after that game and by the time he came back to us he wasn't quite the same player again. Great day

Great day I remember Mckeever's runs down the left more than the goals that day. That was probably the game of his life and as good a performance as I have seen since.

One of the truly great away days, what makes it so memorable is how the first half promised so little, I would have been happy leaving with a 1 0 win at that point, then it all exploded and boy what a joyous explosion, games like that just don't come along very often and I suspect no one there will ever forget it as long as they live, or at least til the Alzheimers kicks in

We even put a bet on at the ground that came in on the score and the hat trick!

Hayles had left at that point hadn't he? Still goes down at the most memorable away game I've attended. Brilliant, crazy afternoon.

Funny enough at that Derby game I had a bet on Rovers which came in and also one on Walters to score the last goal, he hit the post and it rolled along the line and got cleared, still can't have it all (certainly not on my coupons anyway)
