Bet the stadium/court wrangling does not stop, even if we lose appeal. There are more steps that can be taken even post appeal.

Sainsburys can only appeal to a higher authority with the permission of the present appeal judges (leave of appeal)

I think the odds of the UWE Stadium still going ahead are still fairly high - it's just to what extent ...
1/ Full stadium, as per the plans, from funding via selling The Mem to Sainsburys. 2/ A scaled back version, from other funding means (Mem sold for something else, like housing, or a new investor.)
We've had 24 years of countless rejected stadium plans, and now finally have permission to build somewhere.

Lets not forget there is only planning permission for a supermarket being built at the Memorial Ground. If we want to sell it to someone else for something other than a supermarket then the whole of the planning process will have to be gone through again and no doubt the objectors will apply for a judicial review again further extending the length of time in which it will take any potential new stadium to be built.

Sorry for delayed response, been away. I think that there is justification for taking it to European court.

I just want it to be over one way or the other now, if we win it will the greatest thing to happen to us for a long time, if not I don't think I can bare reading about court appeals..
Jesus I had to edit the original post..struggled to make sense of it myself.

It's a good point, but we did previously have planning permission for the hotel / student accommodation around the ground. I appreciate that doesn't guarantee future planning permission, but it should be something that is taken into consideration. It will also form an idea of what height buildings can be. Bristol has to find something like 30,000 new homes by 2030. The Mem is an ideal site: residential area, not far from the centre, away from flood plains.
