I went to the Manor a few times, the first time in the mid 70s we had to go into the London road end next to the home fans, coins etc being thrown so not a great place to watch the game ( Blackpool was the same). I am looking forward to going tomorrow as I haven't been to the 'new' ground before.

My first Oxford away game was in 1975 - a 2-1 loss if I recall correctly. Since then, there have been highs and lows, but mostly highs.. My son Jamie's first game (aged 4) - 5-0 with Jamie C scoring 3 or 4. My son thought we were singing for him. He's 21 now. Little did he know that he would never see us win 5-0 since that day. Also a 1-0 win around the same time. It was all ticket, and we had to go in with the Oxford supporters. My elder son was understandably concerned with my reaction when Steve Foster scored the winner, as were some of the locals... Andy Rammell's match. One of John Ward's early games, when he saved us from the gross incompetence of the McGhee era. Also some downs (the 6-1 defeat was only matched by the 1-3 at AFC Wimbledon). Tunnicliffe must have been our slowest defender ever - although Regan came close... All in all - Oxford Away has been one of the more interesting fixtures over the years. Yes, 2-1 it was - remember a big scrap at a service station gas and cardiff on the way back who were at millwall that day... Yes I remember Cardiff at the service station, they said that they had to leave Millwall early because of trouble. There always seemed to be fights in service stations then, usually Cardiff or Man Utd supporters from South Wales on the M4.

Remember waiting on didcot parkway for a train home when a Cardiff bound train pulled in on the opposite platform full of Welsh skinheads one really big one going mental hanging out of the carriage just as train pulled out he was giving the walkers sign to everyone when from nowhere a full can of bitter flew through the air and hit square on the forehead best shoot I've ever seen can't believe that was 41 years ago

My last visit was the 6-1 hammering in the league cup. They were fresh out of the conference, we were fresh from being relegated out of league 1. Just one of many gutless and pathetic performances that season. Remember the game well, we were still in League 1 and Trollope was manager. What a season that was! Can still remember getting laughed at for predicting we'd be relegated after that game. Apologies, I got it wrong. It was our last season in league 1, conceded 6 three times that year. Bad times indeed.
