Just picked this up from the Oxford forum:
yellowsforum.co.uk/thread/22716/matty-taylor
I'm based in Oxford and the Scottish link to Matty confirms what I was told the other day (via a Matty family friend).
Might be good business, but that said he is our top scorer!!

trouble is he can sign a pre contract in Scotland now and leave in the summer for nothing. An English club would have to either buy him from us now or wait till the summer before offering anything. I don't think he can even talk to English clubs without our permission until the summer.

Trouble for him would be that it's not really progression half the sides in the SPL would struggle in our League, Hamilton, Inverness, Kilmarnock, St Mirren, Motherwell, Ross Co generally get crowds much smaller than ours. It's not competitive and unless you play for Celtic, Aberdeen, Rangers you are better off staying in England.

I went to see Inverness v Hamilton last season, both would struggle to beat the better Conference sides. Scottish football in some poor state!

Hearts would in no way struggle in our league, they get far better crowds than us (double) and they will probably be playing in Europe next season. I still hate them with a passion though

Are we getting Derek Riordan back here then? Unbelievably, someone has beaten us to it. York must be truly, truly desperate.
