Agreed Lines when fully fit he is head and shoulders a better player than Clarke, Sinclair and Mansell.

This may indeed have helped concentrate a few minds in the squad! Darrell Clarke now has the opportunity to get his own squad of players together. Lockyer, Leadbitter and James Clarke would be choices, and Matty Taylor (who we wouldn't want to leave us on a 'Bosman' in the summer).

I wont be surprised if most if not all have a clause in their contract allowing them a one year extention. DC's already confirmed none of the squad have contract clauses, although it could be DC's promised them all contract offers if they get promoted again? Out of the players names already I'm not sure I'd offer McChrystal a contract as I doubt he's poorly paid and he's hardly one for the future? Can't really judge Puddy until we've seen him play league football, but time's quickly running out for him. We are well off for CBs but I do like Macca and how he plays. He really has been a very consistent player for us. Even in relegation season he played well and last year he was a real leader. This season with DC having more choices he isn't a first choice and with him being probably being one of the more expensive players I think you may be right. But if he were to go then I hope we have someone better to replace him with. We still need to have a strong squad. After our last promotion PT made the mistake of thinking the players he signed were better than those he let go.... I don't think they were. I would miss his whole hearted approach and straightforwardness. We know he will always give 100%. Him, Brown, Lockyer and Mansell and Sinclair first half of season were the heartbeat of our side last season. Now we are looking to build a League 1 team and Macca might not be kept but I for one would miss him. UTG !

Afraid I disagree about Mcrystal especially first half of last season, hopeless at Barnet made Akinde look great, own goal at Altrincham and that stupid handball at Tranmere that got Rovers knocked out of cup....ok he got better but back then I rated Trotman higher than Mcrystal.

Lines would be the first out the door I believe that Chris Lines is also out of contract at the end of the season, so it should be a relatively easy one to resolve. An offer of a new contract, or not. I have been quite vociferous in the past about him but sometimes you just have to let the past be just that. I think he did very well for us last season & I still think he has a role to play & he is one of the few that I believe could make the step up to league 1. I have no idea what the score is with him right now & the club have remained tight lipped about it. I asked the official Twitter account why he was not even In the squad and was told he took a knock in training but they would not even reply when I asked what the injury was and if they had a ball park time of how long he would be out. I find it hard to forget the stuff that went on, when we ended up having Dave Penney sacked but I think it best to just let go. What I don't like is that, when he does play, he seems to get every dead ball chance, I think we have shown that we certainly have better options when he is not playing though.

This is what forums are about, opinions. But I would still miss Macca and think he has been excellent for us. But I have also posted about how good Trotman was in first half of last season so agree with some of above. Whatever, it's good we have good choice of CBs and were we to go up then we need better quality so understand people thinking about replacing. My point was when we did this last time PT didn't get it right. Better the devil etc..... UTG!

I'm a little surprised Trotman is still a free agent to be honest. Would have thought a conference club at least would want him.

Not always, plenty of midfielders that are more defensive than attacking, and vice versa of course

Me too, I was wondering what happened to him. Me three I believe that part of the deal we did with Trotman was that we would pay for the surgery he needed to address a long term fitness issue at the end of the season reagrdless of whether we re-signed him or not. My guess is that this was quite a major operation so even if everything well with that he is probably not close to match fit - something which is obviously harder to do if you are not training week in week out with a club. In other words he's probably not a very attractive signing at this stage in the season when sides are going to be looking for player to come in and make an immediate impact because it will take him a while to get up to speed. Wouldn't surprise me if he picked up a club towards the end of the season though when teams with little to play for might take a punt on him as a potential trial for next season.

Bliss has left the club by mutual consent. Making room for Gaff hopefully.

Perhaps we could trial him in the summer to replace Mark McChrystal, he was fantastic in the away game at Wrexham when McChrystal played in goal
