DC just said on Radio Bristol that they had verbally agreed a permanent deal for Gaffney last week. Apparently Cambridge have now moved the goalposts. I hope to god we can keep him!

If we didn't follow that verbal agreement up in writing, we are very foolish.

If we didn't follow that verbal agreement up in writing, we are very foolish. My thoughts exactly. I wonder what we were holding out for?

The money is being spunked up the wall on a lost cause this month in the form of legal fees, footballers aren't a priority.

1st I had seen him play, reminded me of a young Alan shearer.

Unfortunately this is all quite predictable and almost standard practice, as far as BRFC are concerned. But if we are in need of being cheered up, just remember the 91st minute at Reading. I wonder if Cotts has spoken yet?

Perhaps things were verbally agreed with Cambridge but not with Gaffney therefore nothing in writing.
End of the day who on here knows what has happened and what all the rules are?

With regards to Gaffney himself, he'd already stated numerous times he wanted to stay with us, so there's unlikely to have been any stalling on his end. As you said though, we can only speculate and we'll most likely never know why it wasn't signed earlier.

If you listen to his online interview recently, in my opinion, he sounded 'open' to his future.

No wonder this forum has an anti-Board/Gas reputation. Strong negative feelings expressed, based on exactly zero facts about the reality of discussions/developments.

Perhaps the only thing DC's did wrong was let Gaffney play and score 4 goals in the last 2 home game!! The question now must be is anybody else prepared to take Gaffney off Cambridge's hands who can outbid us, if not, I assume Cambridge desperately need to free up some wages for new recruits after today's thrashing at home.

Can we offer Cambridge United Nathan Blissett like we offered them in 1992 Devon White to get John Taylor ? worked in our favour

Who has expressed anything remotely approaching " a strong negative opinion"?

Cambridge will be looking to maximise on Gaffney like any other club. It's in Rovers interest to sign not only for his obvious talent, but also the positive effect he is having on the crowd and club.
