Mildenhalls contract situation is simple, it runs out this summer. He signed for us permanently during the summer of 2013 on a 2 year with a 1 year option deal, that 1 year option being appearance related. He easily triggered that clause which is why he is still here, and back in the summer of 2013 i questioned why we were still giving out 3 year deals. There is no more clauses or options, they have already been activated. He has 6 months left on his deal, the manager has already said he has no future here and he's only played because we have nobody else and cannot sign anyone until January. I think DC has a long term vision on the position and i expect a permanent keeper will sign an 18 month deal in the next few weeks, that could be Ryan Clarke or somebody else. Mildenhall has 2 choices, find another club and put himself in the shop window, or stay here not playing and then come the summer will a club want to sign a 37 year old keeper who has played only 2 or 3 times in the whole of this season.

Stick. For the minute.
Even though I think Milds is past his best, I sill think he has, something to offer.
I also feel it was very unfair for DC to publicly come out and say he doesn't feature in plans.

as above, stick with Mildenhall for the remainder of this season, and my personal thoughts on Ryan Clarke that this would be a backward step for rovers, lets move forward with no former players coming in ,

If they're the right player for us now, why does it matter a jot whether they've played for us or not?
As it happens I can't think of very many at all I'd want back, but Ryan Clarke was long enough ago that its virtually irrelevant he's played for us before.
I'd stick with Mildenhall (as I would've done all season), but we still need an understudy while Puddy is broken, unless Preston is suddenly considered good enough.

I would agree, but then again the club have no choice in the matter because Steve Mildenhall (quite correctly) appears to be holding BRFC to their contract with him. I think that the whole affair is something of an embarrassment to the manager, mostly because of the statements that he made about Steve Mildenhall in the press. It seems to me that after recruiting both Chapman and Nicholls he's back to where he started . . . selecting Steve Mildenhall. Mind you he has been a bit unlucky with Will Puddy's situation, but I also think that Mildenhall has come out of this very well indeed, mostly by keeping his mouth shut and getting on with it.

Stick - not sure why we twisted in the first place!
IMHO he has been our best goalkeeper throughout his time with us.
Puddy scares me every time he comes for a cross. and Nicholls didn't exactly cover himself in glory when he was with us...
Give him another year.

Stick, but not if he's earning the same stupid money a few of them were between 2011-2014.

Bang on the money WG. Mildenhall has no future with us because of his age, Darrell's comment was made purely on that basis, we need to find a younger keeper.

Never mind a future, he is here at present and its just as well He did all he needed to do on Monday lets hope he maintains that level while he's got the opportunity. The reality is that his age has caught up with him, that's not his fault, that's just life.

Don't rate him. Lazy with crosses, and think he is only in the side on a temporary basis. Many keepers around far more capable. Better than Ryan Clarke though.

Mildy was/is not bad at all. He must have done or said something silly to DC at the christmas party a year ago, after which he was shut out pretty much. When he started the first couple of games this season he looked very, very slow and I could see why he was dropped. I also saw some shouting and blame from him directed at Lee Brown, who frankly does not deserve any. Against orient he came across toward the Bench and was bellowing at them, I think he was justifying his actions which were not his instructions. The loan keeper Nichols made so many errors he cost us quite a few points. If there were not a problem with Mildy DC would have put him back between the sticks.
In short, and I have nothing to substantiate this, I think it's a personality issue, not an ability issue. DC did not handle it particularly well but Mildy has been pretty dignified in the whole affair.

I think it's pretty poor form to be giving out stick to one of the most intelligent men in our team and a man who could well be in goal for the rest of the season. Let's take this opportunity to give him our backing and get behind him. There were a few muffled chants of mildenhall v O's. Come on guys, we are better than this.

He talks to them and gives encouragement and feedback throughout - the loanee keepers just don't do that (understandable to some extent). Mildenhall seems to divide opinion massively, but I'd take him over many other keepers ive seen play for the gas over the last few years.

Two solid games for me (only seen home matches) and deserves the accolades for being professional when he wasn't favoured, and now is..

TBH I think one of us could have kept goal today, I can't recall one save and even the crosses were hit straight to him. So far in the 2.5 games Mildenhall's played he's made one decent save at Wimbledon and routine save against Orient. Assuming he's not displaced it'll be interesting to see how he gets on in the next 3 tougher looking games, if he comes though those OK I think DC can then safely leave it until the summer to worry about signing a replacement.
