Chris Spittles from the Radio and Western Gazette is touting Marcus for the gig to fans of Yeovil. On Twitter he said: "Marcus Stewart has done a good job as asst. at Rovers but definitely wants to be a manager one day. This could be his chance."
I replied to his Tweet with: "It would be a bad career move for him, if GJ & PS failed there, what hope has he to save 'em? Stay with the Gas MS"
Stay with us Stewie #UTG
Early change in the betting Marcus Stewart now 4/1 fav. Was 10/1.

Thing is, they have no money and even though MS is used to that, he probably will not have seen it at that level eh ? The other important thing to consider is that both fat Gary and Sturrock have both got pretty good contacts within the game. I think fat Gary did an extraordinary job but it was with so many loan players & was a doomed odyssey in that way. Having said all of that, I do sometimes wonder just what stewie does for us as he rarely gets to be interviewed. I do remember one time him doing the post match interview and he came across really very well. Personally I think it would be a bad move for him. I would imagine that he woukd have higher expectations and it wouldn't surprise me if he went to be a number two but with a team in a better position and league than where we are.

not sure he is of head honcho status yet, needs a bit more experience yet, Yeovile are seemingly going back to their roots, the loan system has doomed them to failure, over relied on it to create a team,

It was a great achievement but doomed. I think that they could really be in trouble because they will be hoping they will be able to get back to the dizzy heights. I don't often denigrate but they really are a tinpot club.

By the way, nobody is hoping we will be able to get back to the dizzy heights, I'd settle for survival this year and a promotion push next season. Yes, I'd agree with the general assumption that overuse of the loan system hindered us but to be fair, we used it quite well to consolidate in League One then push into the Championship. We have had the joy of seeing many stars (plying their trade in the Premier League nowadays) at Huish Park; the likes of Steven Caulker, Ryan Mason, Andros Townsend, Wayne Hennessy, Shaun MacDonald, Alex McCarthy and Asmir Begovic. What killed us was failing to prepare adequately for life in the Championship. That season came out of nowhere at us after eight years of mid to lower table obscurity and hit us like a hammer. We certainly didn't make full use of the season up there... we only had one sold out game out of 23 that year. Yes, we have a few fans that annoy you (that is mutual, I'm sure) and yes, you didn't like Gary Johnson, but "tinpot"? Really? The population of the town is 42k, a tenth or even less than that of Bristol. I'd say it was remarkable that we stayed in the Football League so long given our size, let alone were in the Championship beating Watford and drawing with Leicester. Yeovil is a tinpot town, not team.

Marcus would be a good fit for Yeovil, we learnt that at some point you have to stop with the experinced manager merry go round, and think outside of the box. MS has coached at Youth level for several years, and now has decent experience at senior level. I would imagine he has very good contacts, and could well go on to be as good a manager as DC one day. Yeovil being local would also suit MS as he wouldn't have to move house.

I'm pretty confident we will get out of this, yes. We are two points from safety with 26 league games left, that's plenty of time to pull away. I'm more concerned that the bottom three are being slightly cut adrift right now and would be happier if the gap was a little smaller. But writing us off as some of our less able fans are doing is ridiculous when there's five months of the season still left. One thing is for sure, the next appointment will be massive.

Ha ha, yes he's taken some stick over that, even from me. Was funny at the time but always had the capacity to bite us on the backside.

Was funny at the time but always had the capacity to bite us on the backside. I didn't think it was funny, we were hurting at the time, the last thing we needed was some chubby ging mocking us. The thing is, apart from Helium Boy being a complete bell-end, especially in that 2-2 game where he was doing his level best to get our players sent off, there's no problem between our clubs, so why he thought that was clever is a bit of a mystery to me.
