thats my honest opinion ,,,lines a very gifted midfield player dosnt ever tackle! sits much too deep where he cant hurt opponents,,,dosnt get close to opponents when the other team have the ball,,,hardly ever risks heading the ball,,,plays bloody endless hollywood passes but should be giving and going to mix things up,,,takes every set piece easter does something neat and clever once in a while but most league 2 defenders are very happy playing against him,,,hes too frigging deep most of the time,he dosnt even attempt to head the bloody ball! look at sinclair and taylor manfully winning there share of headers despite there lack of height! hes not even a good finisher in truth. lines and easter surplus to bristol rovers for me,,get them out and get better value for gods sake

I had a feeling this would be a mid table season, if lucky, as we have a small squad and injuries will play a part. I think you are right BTW. I really feel like giving up right now. I just feel that I can't handle the stuff with the board plus seeing a decent young manager struggle to make square pegs fit round holes. It's been a long time since I felt like this & I feel kind of guilty for feeling this way. Fact is I am not getting any pleasure from going and I am once again feeling uptight and frustrated. I hope I snap out of this.

You don`t seem very sunny. I agree with you, however; especially about Easter. What a waste of wages. Compare his performance last night with Taylor`s, they were worlds apart. Doesn`t score, can`t hold the ball up and makes no attempt to win it in the air. How did we ever end up with him and Blissett in our squad?

I agree with all the posts on this thread, Sinclair and Taylor show how this league should be played. Still amazes me that Taylor wins headers against much taller players.
I feel Lines and Easter are just going through the motions to get a pay check.
One last point and is a message to DC. WE DON NEED A ANOTHER BLOODY WINGER, WE NEED A BIG UGLY STRIKER, oh I wish for another Andy Rammell type striker.

It is a question to ask DC at the BRSC AGM tomorrow night. Unfortunately it will have to be asked by others present as I have my own questions and these are to do with finances and any takeover/investment.

Keep Lines, but play Clarke or Mansell as the defensive midfield option and let Lines attack. Easter is getting on my nerves, he shows some quality, but its too infrequent, the 1on1 last nigh should have clearly been buried. Play Ellis with Matty and use Easter from the bench.

Easter stopped off on his way to Cardiff. Time to complete the journey.

Never convinced that big awkward target men up front are the answer to anything. Easy to forget the likes of Brunt, Beardsley, Akinde & dare I say it, Blissett?!

I am not a bit surprised at our plight, you wont ever progress as a team if you haven't got a keeper or a striker its glaringly obvious what needs to be done. If we haven't got the funds to address this then be prepared for a lot more results like last night.

If you get the right target man it works though, Stevenage found someone big, strong, holds the ball up, happy to get physical, didn't blow up and run out of steam after half an hour and the ball didn't bounce off of him.

maybe youve touched on a weakness with dc as easter and lines tend to look to play in areas of the pitch where they have more time on the ball but cant do much damage and i just dont believe dc wants that,,,,,also does he say to lines "make sure you take every set piece mate" ?

Has Clarke said that his budget is spent and no more funds are being made available? He has said they have made offers but the players have not wanted to leave where they are. So that draws a line under any notion that Clarke is being denied funds.

The one big player, that I think could have done well, was Eaves. I wonder what became of him ? Scored his first league goal while on loan with us and certainly could not be accused of not giving his all. I had hoped maybe we had a sniff of keeping him

If I remember correctly, he said he had not spent his budget and was saving the remainder for the possibility of strengthening or if injuries put the kybosh on the current squad. My own opinion is that it's not signing fees but it's wages. We all know that significant changes were made on that front. It seems to me that the players, with relevant experience and talent, are not attracted to us with this in mind. I keep hearing, from some Pompey fans, that Tubbs is on his way to us though. I am hoping there is truth in this

Now what do we look for in a striker?
He is fast, he is tricky, he is calm, he can shoot, he brings people into the game, is at least 6ft tall
Hang on a minute.......We have a player like that, Daniel Leadbetter so why not play him upfront? Can't do any worse than Easter.
I'll get my coat.
