Thought it would be good idea to start a thread, and continue, of any funny or memorable anecdotes of away venues we are about to visit?
Or even for some of you to admit you're a virgin at this venue?!
First one went ok, lets to see how this goes..
This is a new ground to me!
Think I parked in Crawley once for a flight...apart from that, looking forward to hearing about jj scoring in front of you to propel us into next round (in the last few minutes of match!) of cup.

Must you copy and paste the same intro every time? Its tedious already!
As for creepy Crawley, I went once and have forgotten it already.

How many first time readers do you imagine each thread gets? I like these threads, but I really don't like the lazy copy and pasted introductions.

Well there's a right grumpy 'ole pair you two are tonight Are you going to publicly kiss and make up as well ? Love these threads if only to read of what stupid behaviour supposedly grown adults have got up to in their journey's to other parts of the UK Never been to creepy Crawley before so this will be my first visit. However, I did watch the FA Cup match live on TV with four other Gasheads dressed in their blue and white quarters in a Bowling Club just outside Pontypool along with a load of Welsh Man Utd fans who were watching their game on another TV at the other end of the bar. Quite unique circumstances really, quite well behaved we was too !

Been there three times as its only 15 mins away. First time we lost 4-1. The game was preceded by Stanley having a barney with one of our fans then we produced the most gutless spineless performance I'd ever seen from a Rovers team. My mate had taken his colts team down to watch us and I took loads of stick from him afterwards about how poor we were. Second time was when the cup tie was abandoned when the torrential rain was blowing straight into the covered end. Fair play to the Crawley stewards as they took us all up into the stand at half-time and went and got hot drinks for some old gents who were suffering. The third time was when JJ scored the winner in the re-scheduled match and took a large slice out of the turf in his celebration. That was a good moment!

As usual anyone actually doing something on here comes in for negativity,Steve K 192 and his excellent match reports are another example of this. I hope that you ignore the odd criticic and carry on doing these threads as I bet quite a few people read them and enjoy them, even getting a laugh out of some stories.

Went into a pub on the way to the game from the station and in the beer garden was some local scrote claiming he had been banned from the ground sitting on a table holding court to a group of admiring supporters.
You almost feel that you have to run Crawley down as everyone does, but it really is a soulless place but the ground is quite tidy.

I was at the game where we got well and truly dicked 4-1. I went with my son who was about 14 at the time, and he wore a Rovers shirt to the game. When we got back to the pub where we had parked there were 3 blokes and a woman, I'd say all in their 20's, getting into their car, and the blokes started to take the piss out of my son once they spotted the shirt. Probably upset after the result, I went off on a foul mouthed rant, and when they tried to drive out of the car park and blocked their exit and got out and hurled some more abuse. The girl looked worried to death, so if by some bizarre chance she is reading this- I unreservedly apologise! As for the blokes, quite why they didn't get out of the car and sort me out I don't know, I'm hardly the most intimidating looking man in the world. Anyway, I've never liked Crawley since- and if we ever play Norwich again I will have to write a similar story!

Went to the 4-1 defeat, didn't hate the ground, it was as I remember the tail end of the summer and a reasonable outside bar there. It did however give rise to what I am sure will go on to be a lifelong hatred of Steve Evans, the way he behaves, the way his team were diving in the penalty box even when 4-1 up. I was particularly pleased when we beat his Rotherham team 3 0 away a couple of seasons later. Lee Brown scored with a particularly flukey mis hit cross that flew in, after which we didn't know whether to shout "shoot" or "cross" every time he got the ball in their half, the only bit of joy in a truly miserable match.

Yup - that about sums it up. That was my only trip to Crawley so far. Kuipers in goal for them I think - bemused by a badly hit cross / wonder goal from Browner. I think Scott Mcgleish was involved with Stanley in getting involved in a spat with the away contingent. They were both subs but didn't appreciate the 'encouragement' that afternoon. Sounds like very few pubs in locality - so will probably head for the supporters club. UTG.

There is the New Moon pub about ten minutes walk from the ground up Brighton Road. I went there last year with some Chesterfield fans and it was friendly enough. I've got a dozen mates from the village coming to the game tomorrow and we plan to kick off the day there at 12 o'clock (The only way I can get the buggers to come and watch us is by getting them anesthetized with several beers beforehand).

To be fair - I think that applies to most of our support (certainly mine)... New Moon looks easy to find and parking shouldn't be a problem.

Only visit was to the wet one for the FA cup before Christmas 2013. Went straight from work and was wearing a wool coat - can smell that damp wool whilst thinking about it now. The other reason to remember that night is that it marked the start of the monsoon season that was the winter of 13/14. Seemed like it didn't stop raining 'til April after that game.

At the replayed FA Cup tie, played in a deluge similar to the one that caused the first match to be called off, someone bellowed out "Does it never stop raining in this f******g town?".
Which even got a few of the Crawley stewards laughing.

Never been to the ground. Did work not too far away from Crawley for a while, but that was sometime before they became a league club.
The story goes that Tuesday is the night to be in Crawley, as that is when the Trolley-Dollies are out on the town. Branigans it was back then, next to Francis' & Benjamin's restaurant. I expect it's called something like The Parrot & Cucumber now.
Fortunately for the ladies from Gatwick, Rovers are playing on a Saturday.

Went to that 4-1 game... think it was very early on in the season following our relegation from lg1 and Crawleys promotion from the conference... They battered us! Remember the town being particularly grey and boring. Being closish to brighton and london and on gatwicks door step seem to be the best thing going for it
