Our best set piece taker (Chris Lines) is currently twiddling his thumbs on the subs bench unfortunately. Yes but unfortunately he was the one over hitting the ball beyond the back post as someone explained further up the thread (and unfortunately was doing it again tonight)

An Archie Stephens type centre forward and we could have won last night just from corners in the second half,Parkes is a big bloke why cant he get his head on a few ? Stuart Taylor used to be a big threat at corners.

We hereby call upon Steve Elliott to come to the training ground one a week to show the present squad how to head the ball properly at set pieces. Legend , how many games changed after he had buried a corner?? Twatola got rid of Stevie and woiuld be too bolshie to let him come back

How about playing Parkes up front? Surely he's better than Virgo! No that is not the solution he does not know how to think as a forward, we need an experienced big forward or an up and coming loanee. We are making the chances.

Perhaps Lines should ne in the box for corners. And for another thread, Hughes shoots and scores!

Well we could make them taller with a small motor under each post, wirelessly controlled from somewhere in the ground

Its groundhog day again. last night we lost to a very poor Stevenage. (their first away win of the season!!) We had 58% of the pocession and 5 corners and only 1 goal to show for it. Last Saturday against a very poor Crawley team we had 57% of pocession, 11 corners and 13 shots and still lost. So Daryl, has recognised our problem, we need a tall , strong dominant striker to strike fear into opposition defenders (ie Devon White type player), but whats his solution, he goes out and and signs Paris Cowan whats his name, a 5 foot 6 inch giant. I am tearing my hair out in despair.

IMO we were awful last night; the corner taking is pathetic, generally the player taking the corner cannot even beat the first man, the ball is floated in, shocking, so easy to defend. Ollie was tremendous at corners, invariably picked out twenty-pence at the near post, who flicked it on with his head for big Dev to score at the back post, happy days. UTG

Ask DC, have you approached NH for finances to bring in a tall striker that you want to bring in?
I gather he has asked but the reply he received was staggering. I'm afraid you'll have to do your own digging for an answer but do it in private NOT at the BRSC AGM as DC may be constrained by NH being at his side.

Chris Beardsley was the last striker signed as the target man - he was properly bad

'Tall & strong' forwards who ply their trade in league 2, generally can't play football.
The obsession is real.

DC has also said on a number of times that they have enquired about the availability several players, all of whom have turned them down. He has also said he won't be held to ransom by players agents and their wage demands. On Saturday he said he expects the players he's got to make the top seven and if they don't then and I quote "it will be out with the old and in with the new"
