It's his last sentence that sums up a lot of the posts today.
Still yet another chance for a lot of regurgitated posts coming up, can't wait for an inclusion of the Grotto!

I'll try and cheer myself up by watching an episode of Citizen Khan. That'll do it.

It was an embarrassing result, but I'm over it already. I was at the Kettering and Hitchin games, which at the time I thought was as low as things could get, but as we now know, it wasn't even remotely close to being the nadir, and nor was today.

Followed the BBC Updates online from my man-cave in Taiwan, it was a painful 2 hours, BBC updates '' shot to the center of the goal'', saved in the center of the goal'', on countless occasions!, was it really like this?, was every shot to the center of the goal?, game kicked off at 10.00pm Taiwan time, I was furious at midnight!, did not sleep till 3.30am, not happy today, tis useless dominating games if you cannot stick the ball away!, need to break this hoodoo sharpish!.

Seriously, what is the issue here. We all support Bristol Rovers and this is exactly what we have come to expect. Our one consistent is our inconsistencies . Even DC needs to take a long look at the position that has changed draws to losses - the goalie. When Mildy made a couple of blunders he was dropped. It appears to me that our current loanee is making a hell of a lot more clangers than Mildy. I may be wrong but I am consistent, I have been saying this for a while ; now I am certain he needs to go.
Taylor looked most likely to score and he was taken off, all of the attacking side wanted too many touches before shooting, just not good enough.
Good luck to che sham, hope they make the third round.
Assume we will smash Southend away in jpt.............

This is exactly why this club languishes where it does compared with our traditional peers. One of whom is in the Premier League. Losing at home to Chesham is to be expected apparently. I saw Chesham at St Albans a coupke of years ago in the Southern Premier, they were defeated at home by St Albans in the play off final and proceeded to lose key players. St Albans were drawn away to Grimsby and were beaten 5-1 Saturday. But thats ok, apparently.

Les, who expected to lose to Chesham?
But it happens. Doesn't make us as bad as we have been in recent history. Yes we can be a lot better, but we could still be worse.
We are a side that has been creating chances but not taken enough of them. We are in a reasonable position in the league that a bit of consistency would put us right in the mix
The manager makes mistakes. Even Louis Van Gaal got slaughtered for taking off his best player off the other night. Fortunatley for him it worked out. Is that luck or judgment?
Do people suddenly think we are going to be relegated? Apparently away form counts for nothing.
As I say if it was our away record letting us down, people would say a slight improvement would put there or there abouts
Instead because the home form has been poor, people cant see much further and it is al doom and gloom
Yesterday was poor, there is no argument there, but we still created plenty to win the game. Unfortunatley we couldn't
People need to keep the razor blades in their case for a bit FFS

You- and a few others- seem to be deliberately missing the point, no one has said it's 'okay' to lose to Chesham , it's s**te, an awful result and embarrassing. However, in the whole scheme of things, our situation could- and has been- a whole lot worse, and the nett effect of us losing at home to Chesham won't change anything.

Its our worst ever FA Cup result by some margin, but its also no big deal. We weren't going to win the cup. We've gone out of the FA Cup at some point every single season since the dawn of football; we just did it at the earliest opportunity this year. The reaction is staggering! What an astonishing thing to write. No, we weren`t going to win the FA cup, but we could have got into the 3rd round and drawn one of the big boys. A great day out, and some much needed cash for our club. You might think that yesterday was no big deal, but I beg to differ.

So on that basis we need to get rid of the 10 in front of him as well. They made more mistakes than he did and didn't save a penalty either. I'd stick with the ten and put Mildenhall back. But he would not have saved the penalty and we would still have lost

I remember all the posts last year saying it is best to be out of the cup and to go for promotion - same applies this year

I don't think its a big deal. The only difference between this year and last year and quite a large proportion of other years is who we lost to. If you can get over that, its no bigger deal than it was last year or any of those other years. Losing at home to Chesham is pitiful, embarrassing and deeply disappointing, but the consequences aren't any worse than losing to anyone else in the first round. Which is why, in my opinion, it isn't a big deal.

Had we conceded the penalty but saved the shot that went in, we'd have had 50 minutes to find an equaliser instead of 18. But rather than speculate on what might have happened, we can look at what did, and for the second home game running our loan keeper has committed a ridiculous error that has given the other side the lead. Its not all his fault, but I can't see how he improves us at all and his wages are a waste of a tight budget.

Although some stupid managers come out and say the FA Cup, League Cup etc are irrelevant sideshows, the romantic in me still believes in the dream such cups evoke particularly the FA Cup. It feels good to speculate on who we get, watch the draw, plan the day out, visit new or old clubs etc. Of course we will not win the cup, but like buying a lotto ticket it allows you to dream. (Sick bags are provided, and yes cynics can shoot this down, but I feel the majority of fans would rather be in the cup than to go out early particularly in such a limp way to a lowly club.)

So would I. Disappointing, but hardly incomprehensible or even a rarity for league teams to be knocked out by a non league team.
Some people though seem to be painting a dark picture. Not sure if they have looked at the league table

I agree entirely. I prefer being in the Cup than out of it. But ever since Hitchin, I've learnt to steel myself against disproportionate reactions when we lose regardless of which round or opposition it happens in or against. After what happened 18 months ago, I can't believe anyone could say this is a new low or words to that effect with a straight face. Yesterday was a bad day, for sure. It was unexpected, too. A Cup shock. Its not so magic or romantic when it's us on the receiving end, that's all.

It sounds that our expectations are now so low we have to accept diabolical days like today by saying it could be worse. It's no real wonder the owners of the club get away with their mismanagement of the club. We really must be collectively the most docile fans in the country. Or I suppose it could be worse we could be a collective coma. The place where I take issue with your comment is this idea of 'not-accepting' the performance? What is the alternative to 'accepting' a result? Do we occupy Filton Avenue for a fortnight, wearing out quarters and refusing to move unless Higgs liquidates his holding and gives it to an interim board of elected fan members? Or does non acceptance mean we boo the management on the pitch and hold up HIGGS OUT banners? I don't understand how this is a better option than getting behind the team and putting the result behind us (because cup upsets happen in the FA cup). We've been knocked out of the FA cup in embarrassing fashion, the club has lost a few pennies and we've potentially lost a big away trip in the 3rd / 4th round. The focus now is on pushing forward in the league, because this time last year we didn't have the option of consolidating a place in the top half of L2.
