No, not at all and I didn't even intimate that but each makes their own assumption of what I write. I can't sit and explain what people read between the lines but, we have had 2 budget cuts this season and after 2 last season. I do believe us to have a poor budget in comparison to other clubs of our size. DC has said he had identified and talked to players but couldn't compete against clubs who, on paper, are smaller. Seriously? Those would be the budget cuts last season that allowed Clarke to retain a decent L2 defence and keeper and bring in Lines and Easter I presume? Interesting; and DC started both linsey and easter on the bench yesterday. IMO Nicholls is not good enough, TBH I would rather have mildy between the sticks. UTG

Thought Nicholls was at fault for Accrington's goal when he stood rooted to his line from the corner that led to the game's only goal and his attempt to save Mansfield's goal was a bit weak. Not our long term answer.

Surely we should get off the keepers back, he saved the pen, something not many rovers keepers ever do. And it wasnt him that miss 20plus chances to have won the game before half time. Ever keeper makes mistakes, who do you guys expect in goal for a crappy div4 team? if he was better he wouldnt be here clearly.

We're an average div4 team and we have an experienced average div4 keeper inexplicably frozen out by the manager at the moment.

& we aren't paying a penny of Nicholls astronomical Wigan wages, so it isn't like anyone can throw that into the mix.
I'd like think most people could see that Mildy wasn't the same player after his knee injury, with numerous howlers of his own since he's been here. Even as recent as the pre season game at Whaddon Road.
What people's obsession is, I'll never know. Also nteresting that almost every stick is being used to beat the keeper with, not the three muppets at the other end of the pitch who once again look clueless anywhere near the memorial stadium's penalty box.
Arise Sir Jamie of Lucas.

When Lee Nicholls joined us on loan from Wigan, I seem to remember that someone posted on here that a friend of his had given rave reviews of the goalie's performances when he was playing for Northampton Town. Given that I really thought that we had signed a real gem, especially since the manager also seemed to be more than happy with the signing by allowing Aaron Chapman return to Chesterfield despite him doing a good job for us while he was here. In fairness to Nicholls he has had to endure a torrid time at home, playing as he does behind the other ten players. But for a goalkeeper confidence is paramount, and I believe that he has lost some (at least) of his, and unless the manager has plans to make his loan spell permanent then I can see little point in him playing in front of Steve Mildenhall.

Pity we didn't pursue Neil Etheridge when he was released by Fulham. He signed in July for Walsall.
