Just heard from a mate who supports Northampton Town, looks like Cobblers are 3 weeks away from liquidation. Been asked to pass on this link crowdfunding.justgiving.com/ntfctrustCobblers are perhaps not one of anyones most popular clubs, but have a loyal fanbase like many in the lower divisions, a proper football club with a bit of history. Some may well blame their board / chairman, however that is often out of the fans control, like many fans they probably deserve better

I'm sure there is a simple answer - but a bit confused. Why are they trying to raise only £100k when they are squillions in debt to HMRC? Or have I missed something?

I wouldn't piss on Sixfields if it was on fire.
They'll survive, clubs nearly always do. Or they'll go down and go bust and re-form, and start from the bottom like the very few clubs that have gone bust have had to do.
Any chance I would ever put so much as a penny in a donation for another club has gone up in smoke now that Bournemouth are in the Premier League. Meanwhile, all around the world there are people who need your money far more than Northampton Town ever will.
So that's a no from me.

"and there is a danger that club's "pink shirt" charity - the Coppafeel breast cancer charity - may not be paid."
I doubt that Cobble's fans biggest worry??

I would think it is in the creditors interest to keep them going somehow and get some money back , no matter how small, on a reasonably regular basis, than force them to fold and get nowt possibly? Or be in some sort of bun fight to liquidate their assets.

Hereford who went bust played here in Stafford last Sat and won 4-0 against a team called Brocton in front of 300 odd fans a record for the village side but most were from Hereford.Brocton's ground has no stand or terraces just a small shed type covered area and was formerly owned by the local Police Force.Sobereing thought as not that long ago they were in Div one.

Have to agree with the astavvy fella.
Whilst I genuinely don't want to see a football club into non existence, (quite literally) cobblers to them..
No offence to the poster..
