Ah, a good old-fashioned football fan. I wonder if Sheikh Wotsit of Man Citeh has ever met one? If weather's good, personally i'd start at the Swan in Swineford, then the Upton, then the Hollybush, then the Lock Keeper. Not that I'd usually last that long. That's not everyone's taste, i'll admit Come back when you've done seven games in two days lads. Not for me. Thought I'd share if others were interested, and help the local non-league clubs get some promotion. That pub crawl sounds good though, as long as you've got a chauffeur.

As long as it serves cider! Failing that there are two great pubs in Iron Acton 1 mile down the road. I stuck something on their forum so will provide updates if they post anything. Yate Town Fc would really appreciate the extra support and as you know Yate is a mostly Gas area , in fact I'm sure a couple of hundred Yate and Sodbury folk pitch up at The Mem most weeks when The Gas are at home!!
The bar serves Stowford Press and for beer lovers it's Doom Bar and Guinness plus a couple of lagers.
Just 300 yds from the ground heading north along the rather aptly named North Road is The Cross Keys...a great little old fashioned, what I call, proper pub serving great pub food in Epic proportions at a good price. 50yds south from the junction with Lodge Rd along the rather inappropriately named North Road ! is The Fox pub which also serves beer and food on a 2 for 1 pricing schedule so no need to go into Iron Acton.
Yate are a bit 'Jekyl and Hide' this season but have a good squad on paper with a few ex-conference players in their side but in theory should beat Bashley comfortably.....but that is only theoretically. we all know how that can work out.
So if you guys fancy re-visiting the non-league we would love to see you travel the short distance to Lodge Rd where I guarantee you will have a great afternoon's entertainment.
Quick Edit......It's the food that's 2 for 1....not the beer, unfortunately !

The Lamb at Iron Acton has Thatchers Dry (and a few others) and has been showing the England rugby games on a big screen in the evenings with complimentary (free - yes free!) hot dogs at half time. Not sure how many will be there for the England/Uruguay game - but you never know. The White Hart has Dry Blackthorn and is a little more upmarket on the food front. That's my plug for Iron Acton anyway... UTG & UYTFC!

Considering going to Sheffield to watch United vs Rochdale with my old man. New ground. I've only been there once, lost 4-1 in the late 80s, they do seem to be a team we don't play often. I'm considering ticking off Queen Of The South.

It's also left a football free Saturday again. A little bit of a quandary.. With local non league in fa cup qualifying, most of the major teams locally (Bath City, Gloucester, Chippenham & WSM) are all away! I've not looked at lower fixtures, sorry, with all due respect to BMF, Steve Yate Town, Bris, Mighty Mangoes etc. So the closest fixture seems to be FGR. As I'm morally adverse to helping to fund an open prison and what very well may be next seasons' closest derby match, I'm forced to look elsewhere. Yeovile? Print that, ginger to$$er, no thanks. Next nearest.....Swindle? I don't have requisite fingers to pass as a local. So it looks like a football free Saturday? Help! Any suggestions gratefully received......but don't mention the rugby. I mentioned it once and I think I got away with it!? Warmley Park 10k, after that you can help me wash the car

With the benefit of hindsight (which is always a very good trick to have up your sleeve ), I wonder if the club would have be so quick to have called off Saturday's league game against WWFC, if they had known how well the team would perform last night? After all none of the international players were involved, and we still won handsomely.

Each time I pose a question of his tactics and strong will, he manages to pull the metaphorical Rabbit out of the hat. NH said that each time he sees DC, he says "I always get promotion". I think that he and the coaching team will use the time well. It can't be so bad that the players have a small break. We will have a lot to play and in bad conditions. It's been an extraordinary start to Autumn, I can't remember playing so many games in lovely sunlight. I got a decent tan at Yeovil

It seems that Gareth Ainsworth is quite happy though. From today's Bristol Post . . .
