My advice, to anyone else who does it, would be to breathe deeply and to think just a little before just trying to reply in broken sentences. Luckily the Beeb edited out the worst of my ramblings. I genuinely felt pressures & I never expected that. I was sales director of a blue chip and yet I was jelly on that day. Not as easy as many think. Maybe a Valium would help ! I use beta blockers. They are magic for my public speaking and guarantee no panic. I choked once early on in career. I'm great once I'm going just big crowds get that lump in the chest a little, but propranolol is magic stuff. Valium makes me too sleepy! Nice one on getting sales director, I have a long way to go to get to that level. Just common or garden sales rep at present! ;-) My first job was for a Belgian plastics company in 1985. 7.5K pa lol. I really went nuts and was doing some 80-100K miles per year. Long story short, got to sales director in 10 years but it broke me. I chased the money so hard that I ended up having panic attacks and not telling anyone. I had Valium in the side pocket of the car. Became an addict and tried to hide it. My advice is be mindful of your health mate. I loved the money and life style but I would not do it again, had I my time over.

I always try to remember that audiences, whoever they be, generally don't want you to go wrong. If I get someone who is a bit pompous or feels themselves to be better/wiser/wealthier etc; they have to go to the loo in exactly the same way as me! It's a good leveller! Presenting to large numbers- imagine you are the only one with clothes on, you will be relaxed and even find yourself smiling! Nothing to to with DC unless of course he has misunderstood and is imagining himself naked and the interviewer clothed - it might explain snappiness......

I don't have a good enough brain to lie lol. Truth is, I was an idiot. One of the truisms I find very apt is that you never really understand how lucky you are, with health, until you lose it. I enjoyed the money as I never ever thought I could earn that much, coming from working class background. My best year I took home 210K based upon. 35K basic. I loved the fact I could buy designer clothes, eat in the best restaurants and, not boasting here, the pick of some stunning women. I lost out on getting married and never had kids because I was always chasing the material things. In all honesty, I enjoyed manual work best. I used to be a labourer on various trades. Mostly labouring on my two Brother, who were brickies. I always felt I deserved a couple of pints and my evening meal. I never felt that way being a salesman. I would be mentally exhausted but never physically so. There is a lot to be said for manual work

This may have already been brought up but Clarke seems to snap and interrupts when being asked questions by the local press. He always seems to look away from the interviewer when they are talking to him too. I don't know if he knows he's doing it but it comes across that Clarke has got a chip on his shoulder. If you want to have a laugh, watch Chris Lines when doing an interview... I agree to a certain extent; however, IMO Radio Bristol interviewers and 20pence in particular are so weak, they never ask the difficult questions, the ones we as supporters, are shouting at the car radio to be asked. And I loved Marcus as a player, but he is not good or comfortable when trying to answer any questions put to him about BRFC, we just turn him off and re-tune to talk sport. Not sure DC has a chip on his shoulder maybe a scribble.
