Thought it would be good idea to start a thread, and continue, of any funny or memorable anecdotes of away venues we are about to visit?
Or even for some of you to admit you're a virgin at this venue?!
First one went ok, lets to see how this goes..
For myself, I am steering away from the obvious Lambo-gate incident of 2007. Lambert scored, everyone went crazy, except them associated with The Gate.
I wasn't there at the venue.
But I was, a year or so (ish) before. We lost 1-0 and I stood on terrace. Near end of season in 90s. Flippin windy, flippin cold, flippin northern..

From what I remember 2 seasons ago probably the nations finest station bar, about the size of 2 broomcupboards no bar loads of ale and cider that they would go and fetch from their booze cupboard, unfortunately this time its midweek no trains after 915 gonna have to drive, none of that fun for me

Best fish and chips I've ever eaten in Hartlepool although the chippie in Raglan Monmouthshire runs it close On the home journey back to South Wales following that win we passed the players coach and Kev decided to fully open the sun roof and stand up to wave at the players as we passed by, no idea if they saw him though

My first trip there was early 90s under Ward (I think). Hartlepool were awful at the time and I think they lost their previous match 7-0 and the one after the Rovers match 8-1 (at home!). It goes without saying that sandwiched in between those results they managed to beat us 2-1. I seem to remember that they refused to serve women in their social club beforehand, and a vague memory of John Keays upon learning this, turning to the woman he was with and saying something along the lines of 'see you in the ground then love'. This could well be a drink/age related memory, can anyone confirm this happened!
One thing that definitely did happen was there was an appeal to Rovers fans to help out with the pitch as the game was in doubt, something those fans probably regretted after the performance that day. My last visit there was the 4 goal drubbing during the relegation season, we had a great weekend in Newcastle, and as often is the case on the weekends away, a s**te 90 minutes on the pitch.

May 2007 was a brilliant time - last league game of the season. Fish and chips and an open air bar in the away end. We won and were in the play off spots, Hartlepool were promoted, so both ends were going mad. Left right at the end to catch a train and I was the only one walking down that road alongside the ground - it was really eerie with the huge noise in the ground and not a another person in the road.
