I see what you mean but would be very harsh on the keeper to give it as an own goal and anyway I am sure the keeper will be quite happy for Easter to have it as it was a great shot. Its not harsh but it was very unlucky for the keeper. Its an own goal, its got nothing to do with Easter claiming it or the keeper letting him have it, its not up to them

first two goals were crackers I thought Easter's has to go down as an own goal though, surely? Yeah - but still a good effort.
For those saying it shouldn't be given as an own goal harshness has nothing to do with it- it's not a subjective call on that one, it's just a fact. The ball wasn't going in until hit the keeper on the back - therefore it is an own goal. That's pretty much the definition.
What I'm shocked by is the amount of space they seemed to have for their 2nd goal. No closing down anywhere on the pitch and then the goalscorer is completely umarked on the penalty spot. Criticism of the keeper is harsh there - I'm not sure he had much choice but to come and challenge there. Where on earth had our defence gone?

I think the problem is Easter - he drops deep to link up and collect the ball, but then rather than look for one-two to run at defenders and take the ball in the box (which he is certainly capable of), he passes sideways and we go back around the houses and look to get a cross in. We're good at that, but we need to mix it up with penetration up the middle (fnaar) if we're going to unlock the better League 2 teams.
I think the reason for this is Easter has lost faith that if he makes a run for a one-two, someone will pick him out. That's a bit about tempo (looking to get the ball up the pitch quickly) but also because IMO we're not building the team around our two best players and the quality 'power move' they could present - Easter gets the ball, precise layoff to Lines, Lines quick through ball to Easter who has ran into space.
Obviously, as professionals, DC and everyone else knows this, and a thousand things more. The mystery is why its not working at the moment. I still think its about developing combinations, patterns of play, rather than changing personnel (although I am starting to waver on whether Harrison or Taylor are good enough to partner Easter up front..... hope I'm wrong!)
